Tow operators can be your best friend, or your worst enemy, depending on the circumstances. have the long arm of the law call a tow truck to a scene, especially on a ticket, and you won't like it very well. But remember, it isn't the fault of the operator for your towed vehicle, it's yours. However, if you break down somewhere, they can be a lifeline of getting you back on the road in a reasonable amount of time.

One year, we reached Memphis, leaving us another 5-6 hours to drive, but it was sleeting in Memphis, the temperatures were starting to plunge and we knew if we stopped overnight in Memphis, we'd be iced in and would miss Christmas with family, so we decided to continue on. I was driving because my husband was so sleepy, and I was hanging a washcloth out the window and slapping myself in the face to stay awake. The fact that you don't charge some of these people when it gets into multiple hours of waiting for them to pick up their car just shows how kind you guys are.

Here in the foothills of central California we call people like this, "flatlanders". Some of them try to visit Yosemite in the spring in a rental car without ever driving on snow before. I once rescued two elderly people that slid on the ice and ended up on their side in a frozen pond half submerged. It happened right outside my cabin in Fishcamp California. I ran out of my house to see what happened and pulled them both out before everyone started asking me if I was cold. I was barefoot and shirtless and was only wearing a pair of sweatpants.😁 Adrenaline is incredible!

Thank you so much for the snow covered mountains view. We have been to the Smoky Mountains in every season but winter. It was so gorgeous!

Some people aren’t very bright! Who runs out of gas? Can’t listen to instructions about cash only! Arguing during pickup. What a life!
