This is wonderful, wonderful, both parts of it. The young Kissin plum wore himself out pleasing his audience. The sound engineers did a clean job recording it out of doors. We who are unlikely to ever get to the Orange Festival are so fortunate to have this. Thank you Allegrofilms.

People don't realize who Kissin really is but I know. He is BACH like Glen Gould was and they are both channeling "The God of Music" Bacchus who is also known as the "Kissing Monster" and they both grind their jaws when they play, its a tell tale sign of Zeus which stands for "Jaws".

Kissin rarely plays Bach in concert. But he loves Bach. So why doesn't he play Bach in concerts? KIssin has said that Glenn Gould's Bach was so perfect, that playing the same music is pointless.

When he said this then maybe he is wrong....i dont think that goulds interprations are perfect...bit when they are there are also many other pianists with perfect bach interpretations.... There are endless perfect interpretarions for any compositioms but also endless bad inteprations...

@@GTXTi-db5xu It was in an interview.. Cab't find that reference. But I did find this. You rarely play Bach in public. That's true. Why? Because it intimidates me. I consider Bach to be the summit of music in genera

I have mixed feeling about Bach’s organ works being transcribed for piano. To perform this work on a great organ is sublime. On the piano, not so much but then I’m an organist.
@TobiaTesan

I think I half-remember, from some documentary I've seen, the great Sviatoslav Richter expressing distaste for transcriptions more than once, yet being more than willing to perform Busoni's and Liszt's transcriptions of organ and orchestral works in remote villages where they couldn't ever hope to get the "real thing". I could be making this up, please don't take my word for it - but I find that is generally a good way of looking at transcriptions.
@gjeacocke

The reason behind transcriptions was to gwt the music heard when they could not hear it in the concert halls. Thats how composers became known. Nothing wrong with transcriptions, richter was contradictory in his attitude at times.

The ability to add multi-foot stops, as well as mixture and mutation stops on the organ produces a much richer sound on the organ. You have more dynamic control with a piano of course. But piano music is mainly written vertically, relying on dense chord structures and rapid dynamic changes. Bach's organ music is written horizontally, using the organ stops to provide the richness. This is why organ music, especially Bach, sounds somewhat thin on the piano.

Бах вообще не его. Ни фраз, ни главное что у Баха - темп и метр, увы совсем мимо, ещё как-то и тяжело, гротескно, вымученно.
