Easy crossplay and multiplayer (even inviting someone to your single player world) is a huge benefit to Bedrock. Bridging in front of you is great. And there’s little cool things like dying water in cauldrons and dying leather armor, big salmons giving you bones (plus only being different sizes on Bedrock until a recent snapshot update), leaves turning white when it snows, and sheeps having their correct color undercoat when sheared. I prefer Java but don’t have a PC and so I’m playing on my Switch currently. But because of crossplay and Realms I can easily play with my friends who play on Playstation, Switch, and PC. Java is better in a lot of areas and is the original game, again I do prefer it, but saying Bedrock has no other benefits is silly. I really think we need to end the factionism between Java and Bedrock players, because it’s all Minecraft at the end of the day. I say this as someone who prefers Java, but has played and does play many major versions (legacy console on Xbox and Switch, Java, Pocket Edition, Bedrock on iOS and Switch), and someone who doesn’t like Microsoft’s micro transactions on Bedrock or trying to push Bedrock over Java especially when you get both on PC now (there’s a website where they have a biased list of benefits tilted toward Bedrock with many supposed exclusive upsides being related to Marketplace and paid Realms). I say this as someone who agrees with all the people I see online who don’t like Microsoft’s greed and favoritism and prefer Java. But I don’t like the factionism. It’s sad to see. I wish we could just all enjoy the game together, no matter our version we play. And even if we dislike Microsoft’s greed or Mojang’s choices of what to add to the game, we could be more rational and civil about how we interact with each other as fans and the developers as fellow people. Microsoft’s greed deserves all the ire and rage that we instead turn on each other or Mojang unfairly. :/ (This isn’t just directed all at you, I’m leaving this for other people to read too).

For Minecraft education edition, I have a story. So our school has pretty strict filters when in comes to games and stuff. They use an allow list. But someone in my class realized Minecraft ed is allowed. They went to the Microsoft store website (the application is blocked) and downloaded it. It fried our computers but we had an absolute blast. Fast forward to the end of the year, our teacher decided to have a Minecraft ed party and said she would look up how to download it for us. There are several mods in Java that add some of the features you mentioned. Bedrock bridging, or Forward Bridging as I call, it is available through Quark which is now found in most mod packs. The XYZ coordinates, as well as biome names, are a feature of most Java mapping programs. No need to keep hitting F3 to find out where you are. While Java doesn't have native controller support there are mods that add it. On Curseforge it's "Controllable" and on Fabric it's "Midnight Controls". I'm an old fart (67) who didn't want to give up his controller but grew tired of vanilla Bedrock. Ninety percent of my game play is done with a PS4 controller and the Controllable mod. Large Salmon are now a Java thing. I'm sure ibxtoycat is overjoyed. Now having said that I'm not anti Bedrock. I began playing Bedrock on the PS4 so I've been following the new "Dynamic Worlds" releases on the Bedrock side. I figure when they get to the level of say the Better Minecraft mod packs (considered Vanilla Plus) I might come back. What Bedrock needs is more of my favorite mods like Easy Villagers, Powah, Mekanism, Iron Jet Packs, Refined Storage and all of Yung's mods ported over. Now that mod creators can earn some coin in the market place maybe that will happen quicker.

bedrock definitely has its ups and downs. it's really nice that it has all of these features in the vanilla game, but on java we can literally just download a mod that adds the same thing, but ten times better and more customizable. heck, i code mods myself. i could probably add most of these features on my own. i actually already have added some of its features. kinda sucks though that it has to all be done with non-vanilla stuff. datapacks are good but they can only go so far.

mods require a tutorial to use or download most of the time, and plus, if you use a mod that was made in the last update, there's a chance you have to troubleshoot it if the newest version changes anything major (world/structure generation, new biomes, internal code timing, etc)

(which I'm pretty sure is near impossible now) And even then most mods require a mod launcher or something specific to load And then the performance issues because Java runs like sh1t 75% of the time. Without having Java outside the launcher, it's not as simple as that. Plus the issue of finding the mods folder in the first place. If only Java players could ever admit Bedrock has an infinitely easier mod system, maybe this debate would end when that happens.

@@WLF98 1. You can get Java from the Microsoft Launcher easily. 2. The mod loaders can be installed in 2 seconds by literally looking it up. 3. Java only runs badly if you have a bad computer. And even then with performance mods your fps can go up by 100-200 frames, way above bedrock. 4. If you for some reason don't have the mods folder in the .minecraft folder, just create it yourself (you can do this for every missing folder) 5. Every mod is installed by just dragging it into the mods folder, or for resource packs, dragging it into the resource packs menu. I wish you would get an actual view of things and admit that Java is simply better. No tutorials are needed to install mods except for the first time. Even without mods Java's Vanilla is exactly the same. Plus it has way bigger servers, more customization, a super useful F3 Screen, a bigger community, and better redstone. Java is better in every way. Bedrock's exclusive features are all useless cosmetic ones that no one cares about Just admit that Java is superior to bedrock, then maybe this debate will end when that happens.

Just a few things that I wanted to mention... Ticking area exists (it's called forceload). Speedruning really isn't faster- there are so many handy things on Java that make everything WAY faster, ask any speedrunner (although that thing about the dragon sounded noice) Andromeda bridging is techincally possible. You can do the snowballs setting on fire thing. You can easily make your own skin on java too. We have experiments. The "whatever this thing is" is a block with no texture, and it's on Java too.

Ameteur speedrunner here (emphasis on ameteur): 1) Speedrunning on bedrock is kinda easier for beginners, but java speedruns massively benefiet from the f3 screen 2) Not every village has a stronghold, there's only a chance of it, and they are more common at certain coordinates (about 1000 blocks away from 0,0) 3) Doesn't have to be an ender pearl, any projectile can give you crit bug (snowballs, arrows, fishing rods [harder]) - Not related to speedrunning, but you can go into the game files and make your render distance higher then 76. I'm not sure if it actually shows you more then 76 chunks, but it does keep the bigger number there (only in the files, in the game it should just say 76+ chunks)

I get the merging thing, but that's still complicated considering the diversity in Bedrock's systems (console, switch, mobile, PC, probably even a Gameboy if you try) so they would have to account the issues between devices that could not be present in other devices.

I moved to bedrock when Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to stop updating legacy edition (which was the best version) then I moved to (just to try) Java and I was just like "why did I played bedrock for so long bedrock is painful". Here’s 2 more from someone who plays both versions. 1 scaffolding works a lot better on bedrock and has gravity so you can stack down instead of needing to go down and build a new tower (also you can build up easier) 2. The movement is better. If you’re sprinting and run into water you start swimming instead of losing all momentum and can swim in 1 block deep water. There are more not listed in this video too but usually mods cover it. Mods don’t cover the ones I listed though and it makes me big sad

8:11 maybe it's because I grew up playing Java, but the one time I loaded up Bedrock (for the 2023 mob vote) I detested nearly everything about its interface. It's so visually loud and noisy compared to Java, which shows you only what you need to see and nothing else. The chat interface is worse (as you mentioned in the other video) and, most of all, inventory screens having an animated arrival instead of instantly appearing drove me nuts. That said there are plenty of things for each version to be jealous of each other for. It's like two different timelines collided and now we have two alternate universe versions of the same game.

I used to play Bedrock edition before switching to Java pretty recently. I don't really think Bedrock sucks, the multiplayer and cross-platform functionality are insane. However, given the choice between the two, I pretty much always choose Java.

Speaking technically the whole cross play on anything with bedrock is a godsend. 4 player splitscreen on consoles (even the switch) is an amazing feature and play station players can cross play with Xbox, switch, iOS, android, and pc bedrock. Best game feature of the decade. Performance however is a massive issue. The newest consoles are fine, but any older consoles have awful frame rates (switch outperforms Xbox one believe it or not) although newer smartphones are weirdly an exceptional way to play. Performance on an iPhone 13 Pro Max for example outperforms all but the newest consoles.

As a bedrock player, this video makes 100% sense. also one more reason: in java, creative mode doesn't make you fully invincible, you still can get /killed or take out-of-world damage, but in bedrock you can't get /killed and the world border can't hurt you in creative mode.

@@-Rint3ro- most recent clip I've seen was over a year ago and the most recent random fall damage was around 3 years ago, so it was infact patched somewhere along the way. It's also just the client and server being delayed, which is in fact a phone issue, considering none of my devices have had the death or damage bug even if I try to recreate it to my best attempt. They have low end phones which tend to delay either the client or server, same goes with PCs (PCs can also be delayed, although you have to get a really really cheap one for that to happen) The only reason this bug wasn't apparent on Java is mostly because everyone who plays Java has an expensive enough PC to not have a delayed client/server. If Java were on mobile, the bug would be apparent there too, but it's not (because Java isn't on mobile). I've gotten similar bugs on Java with my PC, although they are harder to recreate for me because I'm not that good at the game (normally that would make it easier but with how precise I have to be to get it, I usually just fall normally).

bedrock maps are actually useful in the nether and basically obsolete the lodestone. you can bring an overworld map to the nether and the pointer shows your relative position in the overworld, which you can use to find your way back to your portal from anywhere, since the pointer actually works. you can also use it to decide where you're gonna portal out to, so it's a lot easier to make nether highways. it even works with explorer maps, so you can dig through the nether to get to a woodland mansion
