1:00 The ultimate experience in grueling terror! 1:51 The first five minutes or so is a prologue. They couldn't get the footage from their own movie to use for that purpose, so they had to work with what they had. Thank studio politics for that. That's also why Troll 2 is called "Troll 2" and not "Goblins." Anyway, Evil Dead 2 is NOT a remake. 3:40 That right there is where the story of ED2 truly begins. 4:27 Bruce described ED2 as a "requel," but specifies that it's optional to think of it that way. He also said something to the effect of "it's whatever you want it to be." He also also said that Ash is indeed dumb enough to go back to the cabin. XD *Note:* Some people splice the original trilogy together into one movie. Timestamp 3.40 is typically used as the junction point for TED and ED2. 15:06 It just occurred to me. This came out two years before Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and they both involve "missing pages." 20:27 You can't really saw off shotgun barrels with a chainsaw. It'll ruin the barrels AND the chain. A hacksaw will work, but a band saw is better. There'll always be a burr left on the muzzle(s) that'll have to be sanded off. A belt sander will work, but a disc sander is better. *Note:* That rig that he wears on his chest (w/back scabbard) is probably a horse bit harness. 23:15 He's kinda like Shaggy in TED. Scott would be Fred.

So it was a foreshadowing of his fate

Hey did you know the reason this is a requel is because, rami couldn’t get the rights to his own film the first evil dead because new line cinema owned it at the time and part 2 was distributed by De Laurentiis Entertainment Group w/ the company of Renaissance Pictures as the production company part, which is two completely different company distributors so they had to do a requal in the beginning of flashback sequences. Which would later on make some more plot holes later in the film from the first So really evil dead part 2 dead by dawn is kind of not a requel but a supposed to be sequel but ultimately not in the end because of copyright reasons.

My favourite Sam Raimi movie to date. Saw it for the first time in 1989, on a BRUTALLY censored Swedish rental VHS. I swear, it was so hacked up that it actually got unintelligeble att times (for instance; it cut out everything from just before Linda's head falls off to just as Ash walks out of the wood shed. Head biting him, shed, fighting body with chainsaw and cutting up the head = ALL GONE!) But the energy, the weirdness and the few effects left in there STILL managed to make a fan out of me. Seeing it in all its spectacular glory later on did not dimish that love. BTW, censoring in movies and tv basically killed itself (mostly thanks to Peter Jackson's 'Braindead') in the early 90s here, so we've had no censorship of that kind at all for the past 30 years.

Somebody must have said this already, but there is continuity, IF... In the original, Ash goes to cabin with his girlfriend Linda, his sister Sheryl and friend Scott and Scott's girlfriend Shelly. In Evil Dead 2, it's just Linda. So, ignore everything that happens in Evil Dead 2 until the point where Ash gets hit with the force, then... it all plays like a straight-up sequel. The reason why Raimi did this, was because of rights issues, New Line being distributor of Evil Dead 1, Dino De Laurentiis having the distribution rights to the sequel. So they worked around it, not having to deal with the messy legal issues.
