This movie inspired the tone my game. The density is incredible. Not a wasted second. It's makes extreme horror violence funny. You can make cosmic horror funny and scary if the tones can be matched. Humor as a coping mechanism. This movie was made with love.

Ebert loved Making Mr. Right though. He gave it 3.5 stars. Seems like Siskel must've made some kind of wisecrack about it. KZbin has the full movie for free viewing, both on their official channel and a copy someone posted years ago. They've long ago given up on making any money off of Making Mr. Right, LOL.

This is one of the best horror movies ever made. It inspired an entire Evil Dead TV series with Bruce Campbell in the lead. Self-absorbed movie critics need to open the Book of the Dead.

I was disappointed with the first film and when I spotted the sequel on the shelf of a local video store I struck more by the box art and rented it with very low expectations. WOW!!! Those initial reservations were quickly laid to rest within the first ten minutes and I knew immediately that this was destined to be a modern classic of the horror genre. Sam Raimi keeps a very delicate balance between the horror and humor, never allowing one to overshadow the other. It's scary and funny in equal measures. The scene where the furnishings of a room come to life is genuinely creepy and exceptionally well staged, especially that demonic deer that starts its maniacal laugh. But the standout moment is when Ash is beaten up by his demon possessed hand. Bruce Campbell commits to the punishment being inflicted. He made a personal appearance at the theatre where I worked when we did a screening for a film he directed. We saw very little of him as he zipped across the lobby and disappeared to the men's room and then back to the theatre. I wanted to get a couple co-workers to shout out: Hey, Smitty, how's about grabbing a highball!! Bonus points for those who know where this line comes from.

Yeah they didn’t even like the original great A Nightmare On Elm Street or 3(they really hated which is insane) the only film in that series that got 1 thumbs up from Roger was “New Nightmare”. @@123rockfan It's not that way by accident, they already made evil dead 1 and they were going for something different for the sequel. It's hilarious B-movie campy insanity. Its interesting, I think the main reason why people hate movie critics is because critics actually watch a lot of movies and that makes more discerning movie goers. Of course, Siskel & Ebert didn't catch the literary nod to H.P. Lovecraft, even though it was glaringly blatant. You know, "The Necromonicon, by the mad Arab, Kitab al-Azif"? But, they were just pair of pretentious, know-it-all, pedantic douchebags

Evil Dead 2 Reminds me a lot of Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, I think both are far tamer and visually less interesting compared to the original. Everything that made the first Evil Dead memorable is replaced by a lot of mildly entertaining gags that have no real comic pacing
@uppercutgrandma44252 жыл бұрын
Evil dead 1 kinda sucked, and left as it was (without sequels) I don't think it would've populated cult status soo predominantly. Evil Dead 2 corrected that by embracing itself, followed by Arm Of Darkness and proximity materials.

@@uppercutgrandma4425 everything is subjective I guess. Evil Dead 2 is abysmally unfunny IMO. The genuine campiness of the first Evil Dead is so much more enjoyable. Evil Dead 2 tries WAY too hard to be funny. It’s like an annoying friend who thinks he’s funny but won’t shut the fuck up
