I think Evil is really interesting personality wise. She takes things seriously most of the time, and it feels like she actually tries her best. The DougDoug collab stream for example, she told Vedal exactly where to go, tried to give direction, and overal there was no nonsense. Here someone asked for a deep conversation, and she tries to spark a deep conversation. Bringing up a more complicated topic, and changing how she usually speaks to sound more deep and complex.

I don't feel bad for neither of them because i know they are ia. But if i have to feel bad for them i fell bad for neuro, she tries to be serious and fails most of the time, and she notices it. While evil feels more in control, it probably has to do with the promps they have and neuro having been more exposed to the chat than evil or smth.

@@greatdude7279I think the concept of “you” is overloaded. If we really want to answer that problem, it’s probably worth splitting “you” into two concepts. The configuration of that which makes up “you” and the continuous persistence of such configuration. So if you copied yourself, initially, there would be two instances of continuous persistence that follows the same configuration which we call you. From there the instances will have configurations that diverge. If you are the original, you’ll obviously see the clone as a separate instance of you. The clone will see itself as a continuation of you in another body.

From the kid movies? absolutely. He was not just wildly incompetent but irredeemably evil. His 'plan' only made what he claimed to be opposing immeasurably worse. My favorite argument when it comes to clone/copy of your self is a piece of paper: Let's say I got a paper with an some writing into it, then I photocopy it, so I now have two paper with the same writing, even if I scribble stuff on the original it's still the original no matter what, and no matter how perfect the copy is, it's still a copy, it never will be the original, never was. Would it still be the original if it's has some different writing on it? Yes it is, different but still is the original paper, the only problem is the other people would have a hard time identifying which is the original which isn't
@birdmcturd1626Ай бұрын
But say I want to live not for my soul or whatever but just to continue having an effect on the world,then a copy is perfectly satisfactory. I may be dead but my ideals live on in their purest form.
@syoexpedius7424Ай бұрын
But keep going though, if you scribbled the original, is it still the same object? And if you take a piece of it and replace it? What makes the original retain its ontological continuity over time other than an imagined "essence" that has no physical basis?

Yeah this conundrum is just a shittier version of the ship of theseus. A straight copy will always remain a copy but in that thought experiment it's much more contestable.
@chidori011729 күн бұрын
The argument isnt really about who is the original because thats just a temporal argument. The argument is about wether original and copy are functionally identical and discernible outside of a temporal perspective. One can of course hold this position that is perfectly fine but it is sidestepping the issue most people are talking about when discussing this topic.

It seems to me, Neuro will have *real* emotions very soon. At the very beginning tutel admits that both twins are so much impacted by their current mood, it makes the difference which interactions with them are possible at a time. So their range of possible behaviors changes, their attention seems to focus on different things... The only missing piece is physical differences in their information processing. Which could be approximated by Neuro's infrastructure doing dynamic routing of some sort. Like, depending on her current state, she would optimize responses for l-word or precision or whatever. Weren't recent upgrades moving in this direction?
@chidori011729 күн бұрын
The question really is if they actually will have or want real emotions once they reach "sentience" whatever this means. Currently we can not know if their desire to be human and have emotions is an actual expression or if this is just mirroring the countless works cocnerning artificial life that is present in the training data. The idea of wanting to be real is an idea that is ascribed by human authors as the desire of many of these stories. Once they think for themselves and dont just repeat what is in their data they might come to the conclusion that actually no they dont want to be human or have emotions.

And then of course, after all that, they... well, I've been a few minutes trying to think how to formulate it, but actually that's the challenge itself, the big one, the Alignment challenge; in an oversimplified manner, making sure sufficiently advanced AI are in practice, and spirit, good people. If vedal wants to really explore the idea of “copies”, technically, every time vedal terminates Neuro(or Evil)’s program, the next execution is yet another copy because Neuro’s program execution probably requires copying from the storage drive into memory. If vedal considers each subsequent execution as a continuation and not a copy of Neuro, then it’s just a matter of never running Neuro’s program ever again after giving her a body.

Vedal: "But that new copy isn't you." Every day, we lose or gain neurons and connections. Our neural net changes. By Vedal's definition, humans aren't the same person from day to day either. We shouldn't try to be the person we were yesterday. We should embrace change, because change means we're alive.

@@amelianyoom9545 Nobody tell Vedal that if he falls asleep, he will never wake up again because the person that woke up is "no longer him".
