Great stuff. Used your technique on a nerf gun for a sci-fi short prop

Thank you.

You needed to fade the blue off to black. Would have looked more realistic. IMO.

Using the blue lacquer over a silver base would create a blued steel effect for your props.

Thanks for the tip.

Ted I know that you have this effect on plastic but have you tried it on metal? Would you require a primer/clear coat first?
@EvilTedSmith6 жыл бұрын
I would just paint it right on the metal. No primer.

I love all your videos and have recently started working on EVA foam armor. Have you ever made a costume and wrapped it with metallic car vinyl? I’m currently working on a Gilgamesh cosplay armor with shiny gold car vinyl. Any tips you can offer if you’ve tried before?

No I have not yet, but see others doing it. I'm interested trying it some time.

Could you please add a link to your reference photo? Usually I see a broader blue band, and I believe the coloring may be reversed; see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1917_Browning_machine_gun#/media/File:Browning1917.jpg since the hottest part of the gun is closest to the heat source -- the body, it would get the blue. Motor cycle exhaust pipes also have this kind of discoloration, and it's bluer at the body end.
