I had the Switchblade for a year and put roughly 750 miles on it. A few weeks ago, I switched to the new V3, and I haven't looked back since. While the Switchblade does, in fact, climb better, the differences are subtle. The Switchblade handles technical terrain with more ease, although the Offering can also handle it; it just requires a bit more effort. That's about the only advantage I'd give the Switchblade. The Offering is a more enjoyable bike overall, and honestly, long day rides are much more comfortable on it.

A hilariously entertaining mtb comparison that's down to earth and tries not to use trendy phrasing. Perfection

Haha! That's why I can't say it ... don't want to infringe on your trademark. Conversely, if you start saying things like "HAAHDAH" and "dyude," I will sue you for all your bikes!

The Switchblade is a full on race machine that can dbl as a trail bike. It's built for efficiency. The Offering is a true do it all trail bike that can dable in some enduro but built to make you smile from fun factor. That's why they feel different. Two different philosophy from the two companies even though the numbers are similar. Sidenote: my V2 offering is on the way😁

as another ex CC racer, mid lifer from MA (now Utah), that good old chunky Blue Hills riding brings me back. some of that looks like Vietnam too? anyways, thanks for the review, its now 2024 and Im looking at the Evil after having a Wreckoning which I loved but was just too much bike for alot of the trails around SLC and PC...I think this thing is the way.

Good information. I was between the Switchblade and the new Offering. Ended up buying the Pivot last week because that's what my local shop sells. Trails are crap right now due to snow, so I pretty much just stare at it in my basement.

I cant stop laughing literally after reading this..I got my new switchblade in October and I live in mass. Only got to go on it a handful of times before weather went to shit. My bike sits in the basement as well...and I also go and look at it everyday...lol.

Great review, Both are top list play bikes, splitting hairs.. Dave Weigel's genius suspension designs on both. Life is short so buy both bikes and you enjoy them. Happy on either and having a great time trailing all over the map. Cheers 🍻.

My 2019 Instinct carbon 90 BC with carbon bars, wheels, 2021 10-52XO and Stamp 11 pedals weighs 29.7 with bottle cage and front fender, 160/155 travel, thats pretty light for an Enduro bike and climbing ability is amazing as far as i am concerned. I just had RSC brakes installed and a Wolf tooth dropper remote, very smooth and the 10-52 is worth it providing someone like me can use it at age 65

Actually I bought my bike because of the DW link white paper lol. So yes, my first cut of bikes were the looks and colours. Then the final decisions were based on the measurements and suspension white paper, all of which were based on paper data read from a screen lol. But I do agree that perceptions can be deceiving lol. Which is why I made my final decision based on the technical design, rather than what I thought the bike rode like when testing it out haha. I just have to not dislike the bike, And the final cut comes from the mechanical design.

Haven't properly ridden the Ripmo. Hoping to get on a demo at some point.
@toddjean37892 жыл бұрын
@@DirtWireTV I've demoed the Ripmo and I think what you'll notice the most is the head tube angle. Felt too stretched out and long for me. Did feel very stable and safe but not particularly fast. Just so you don't have to look it up its 2 degrees slacker making the bike 23 mm longer. I'm actually looking to demo a switchblade. The geometry looks very promising.

great review and really helpful as i am trying to navigate my way through some options. I am riding same types of terrain in MA and NH and will be trying a switchblade demo from JRA soon. You also reviewed the Firebird a couple year back - you really liked that and slayed everything your rode on in the video but decided on the Evil. Is the Firebird just too much bike for the local trails? I feel like i'll have fomo with the Firebird if i buy the switchblade - am I way off on that?
@DirtWireTV3 жыл бұрын
I think so, on the Firebird being too much for local trails ... unless you just ride Lynn. It is an amazing plow through slow-tech stuff though.
@kengreenwald2293 жыл бұрын
@@DirtWireTV thanks for your reply! Used to ride Lynn several days a week in the 90's but not as much anymore. I am looking for a bike that will plow through the tech stuff - especially now that i am older but heard the Firebird was not great in the tight techy stuff. Cant demo one so that is why i am asking from your personal experience.

Just "throwing this out there" have you looked at putting the PUSH ElevenSix coil shock on your Evil? I know, I know, it is a pricey addition to consider, BUT I would also argue it's worth every penny. (because I have 1 on mine)

It’s official: I’m absolutely nuts in the head. I recently bought the Evil The Offering v2 2021 with out ever trying one. However, I watched tons of videos, and asked many people of their first hand experience and thoughts on every bike I was interested in. I think no matter which bike I picked, I think I would have made a great choice. But yes. I’m crazy.

How did you find the sizing on the switchblade? What size bike and how tall are you?
@prr6653 жыл бұрын
I just bought a Team XX1 build Pivot Switchblade and I love it! The DT Swiss XMC 1501 carbon wheels that come with it are awesomely light at 1,535 grams. What's really awesome about it is the ability to run 2.6 tires on it because of the SuperBoost frame. I put a 2.6 Maxxis Rekon on the back and it hauls ass uphill! On a side note: I had a Yeti SB130 LR before this bike but I lost my appetite for Yeti and sold it. I really don't like Yeti anymore because they gave into political correctness and decided to practice censorship by no longer calling their community of riders: "The Tribe." All this because some spoiled children of wealthy parents who are social justice warriors complained to Yeti about it. I bet those MF'ers weren't even mountain bikers!!! I strongly encourage people out there to not buy products or services from companies like Yeti that engage in censorship. Remember, small acts of censorship inevitably turn into larger ones. Be vigilant.
@chandne3 жыл бұрын
Yeti riders will always have the option of belonging to The Tribe, regardless. I am on my third Yeti and have owned Pivots, SC, Ibis, Turners, Ventanas, Titus (I'm dating myself), and a few others. Looking for a ride to replace my Yeti SB 4.5 now....

It's incredible. I debated bikes for months, and in hindsight I wasted a lot of time cause the climbing is unbelievable. Came from a hardtail so it was a concern, but I never considered things like traction or engagement, and climbing the DW could take a higher travel bike a lot more enjoyable to ride.
