@@ryu-ken it was unfortunate terrible timing. This was SNK's first game representing their glorious return and they didnt have the funds or vision for rollback. The game dropped and was very succesful before Covid locked everything down and forced online play. Once that dynamic happened it was over.. every game with terrible online was d.o.a after. Samsho was going to mainline evo 2 years in a row because it was so hype. Really unfortunate.

Samurai Shodown is so underrated. One of the very few fighters that demands a lot of focus and awareness. Samurai Shodown V Special is still good to this day.

Samurai Shodown is hands down my FAVORITE fighting game and although I am not known to have a high level of skill (in any fighting game), I'm thrilled that I can play with and learn from TOP Samurai Shodown players across the world online on Xbox Series. I've played this game online just about every day for the last years with no major issues. TRUE Samurai Shodown Fans have accepted that SNK solved many of the original issues when they released an updated version of this game called Samurai Shodown ENHANCED on 3.16.2021 (it's currently the ONLY fighting game that exists right now that allows for TRUE 120fps GAMEPLAY). Little fact: this Enhanced version of the game is actually running the most advanced technology that exists right now for fighting games. Sadly, there is a reason why so many players still complain about this game and about the company... they are still playing on older consoles built in 201X. Whereas the players who don't complain about this game and win 1st place at offline Tournaments such as Evo 2022, play the newest version of the game on the Xbox Series console. I get that many are upset that SNK has not fixed the older versions but I also get that we are nearing 2023, and technology advancements do not make it feasible for SNK to fix the older console versions as these consoles are no longer being manufactured. SNK was forced to release this exceptional version of Samurai Shodown ONLY for the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X platforms because Xbox Series consoles are the ONLY consoles that will actually run the gameplay at 120fps... even current PC fighting games have their 120fps capabilities LOCKED at lower fps. So even PC fighting games cannot be PLAYED at TRUE 120fps regardless that some PC's are capable of running it. Scrub Saibot - Evo 2022 Champion is no longer playing SS7 on Parsec yet he never complains about this game, why? because although he is in Canada, he is able to play in lobbies with people in various countries on the Xbox Series. The online is exceptional on Xbox Series - I can join lobbies with players in Brazil, Europe, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Korea, Turkey, Spain, Greece, etc. while I am in North America, even without rollback (Rollback is currently being added to the game by Code Mystics at the time I am writing this). Clearly the issue is not with the game itself, but with which console is being used to run the game. That said, wired internet connections and good internet service are still a strong must for ANY fighting game when playing online competitively. Once Code Mystics Rollback is implemented into the 120fps version of Samurai Shodown this Spring it will allow those who do not have great internet to play with those who do have great internet so its expected to expand the player base. But in my experience the online is already running exceptionally smooth on the Xbox Series and I have people to play with daily so I have no complaints.

@@genantamtam9364 analyze??? bronze/silver/gold isnt really comparable. the brackets run side by side with the same entrants. everyone starts in the winner's bracket until theyve lost a set, which puts them in the loser's bracket. those who lose in the loser's bracket are eliminated from the tournament. at the end of the brackets, the top of winner's side and the top of loser's side play in grand finals, with loser's side having to take two sets instead of one as compensation for having gotten a second chance.

I HIGHLY suggest you buy the enhanced version of this game... it was released on 3.16.2021. If you are interested in playing casually or competitively you'll want this X|S version! Tournaments every month and full lobbies weekly or FTXX but however you like to play, if you prefer to play online, the X|S version has NO comparison right now! It's exceptional even without rollback

A shoto doesn’t mean they are the protagonist Shoto An archetype in the Street Fighter series for a character that has a fireball, a shoryuken, and a tatsu. I'm guessing it's because you're looking for matches on the older consoles... most of the Samsho community (including Scrub Saibot) plays the 2021 enhanced version of Samurai Shodown on the Xbox Series consoles developed with 120fps gameplay as this version has no netcode issues (unless its a wifi player of course)

I've played the game since launch. Baiken is broken in the game. No balance patch has been made since the character's launch. I'm glad the character appeared in the game just a few months before KofXV's release. SNK's disregard for Samsho players is evident.

What happened is those who never stopped playing SamSho moved on to a current generation console to play Samurai Shodown Enhanced (released in 2021) featuring higher frame rate gameplay and capable of online netplay across the globe. A few of us decided to bring this game back to Evo 2022 to help spread the word to those with the 2019 version that SamSho is NOT dead, the advanced 120fps game version is significantly superior and has exceptional online capabilities.

Combos aren't really a thing in it aside from certain mechanics in older games that would allow a kind of baked-in dial-a-combo that's the same for every character. It's not about combos. It's about reads, timing on offiense and defense and footsies. You know, _like a fighting game._
