Eternal should have been added, they were the first uk girl band to sell over 1 million copies of one of their albums before the spice girls were formed.

Sugababes because they were one of the few girlgroups who wrote their own music. Check the credits on Round Round, Hole In The Head or Push the Button.

Spice girls wrote their songs too. Wannabe is written by them and Geri wrote the hooks to many of their other number one singles. That group was the most independent though most popular because they walked away from management and had a major bidding far to sign them due to the strong material they had even prior having a label

I think Overload is more than iconic enough to make the list!! I know the Sugababes were considered very special/weird back then because of their 'United Colours of Bennetion' vibe and because they were the first girlsband being very very unpolished, always looking moody during shows and in interviews haha. I think Girls aloud jumped on that 'edgy' vibe a bit with Sound of the Underground (also because Xenomania wrote for both bands and encouraged both bands writing their own songs).

Honestly after spice girls, little mix seem to have done the most what with womens rights, lgbt rights, etc . I know lots love girls aloud who are great but little mix vids have more important aspects of social equality..surely this is what any girlband should inspire to attain...so im actually confused why little mix dont have more no.1s... time period and shitty american singers with their drama hyped fans stopping that happening cause in early 2000s i bet "secret love song" and "power" and "woman like me" would have been no.1

Good point. The Sugababes were the first girlsband that were not polished AT ALL, though with Overload (and very racially diverse). So I miss 'Overload' on the list too.

Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong country. British girl groups are just the best. Spice Girls are the best of course, but I absolutely loved Girls Aloud, Atomic Kitten, Little Mix, The Saturdays and the Sugababes as well. So many other great girl groups and just pop bands in general from the UK.

Spice Girls where huge in the 90s and early 2000s in Canada (until 98 in the US) but i never knew about the rest. i didn't even know about little mix until 2016 when i watched a UK show on youtube.. Atomic Kitten & Boyband 5ive had a couple of interviews on our tv stations but they didn't go anywhere in North America. The Spice Girls last Album Forever was a massive hit in Canada while in the States it flopped majorly. Goodbye was the last hit in the USA, while Holler was the last hit here.

Sugababes in my opinion are the strongest girl group vocally, their sound along with All Saints had a more mature feel, but Sugababes are untouchable when it comes to 00’s pop, Spice Girls were good but aimed at young girls and not what I’d call a vocal group, Girls Aloud were strong but couldn’t match Sugababes more authentic R&B sound, as for the Saturdays... good recording voices 😂 lives weren’t there string point, Little Mix were the only ones that have ever come close to Sugababes in all honesty, they’re vocals are so strong

Sorry as much as I’d like to agree have you heard Perrie edwards sing? That girl alone beats any of the British girlgroup singers and I say this as a huge sugababes 2.0 fan but overall Little Mix are the best performers & singers and they’ve offered the best live performances and videos from any of the previous groups music is subjective I’m more for the sugababes but Little Mix in every way is clearing every other girlgroup

But no one in Little Mix posses what Mutya or even Keisha have, Mutyas voice is so Smokey and her tone is unrivalled it just oooozes cool and Keisha has so much agility and her technique is incredible. Little Mix’s harmonies are just so good but there voices just aren’t as captivating as the Sugababes
