The carjacking test should also consider that in GTA 3, VC and San there's no locking system while in 4 and 5, parked cars are generally locked.

I don't remember about III and VC, but in SA there are a lot of locked cars parked, and like you have no way to open them normally (except from pushing them to your garage, where they unlock somehow)

GTA IV's sniper rifle carjacking animations are a nice touch of extra realism; you wouldn't want to smash a quality optic-equipped/bedded rifle against anything, so Niko not doing so adds to his prior background as a warfighter.

Who says he is using bare arms? If anything it’ll be bad bruising, but it is a game. Older games only had alarms, no locked doors. It’s like you demand they animate the entire lock tumbler for franklins picking to be perfect, or maybe even animate removing the glass from their arms in real time for Niko.

Its actually a sick detail that only Franklin picks the lock rather than smashing the window. Remember he used to reposess cars meaning he had to get them running with minimum damage to them.

If Franklin was just fighting someone, he will actually smash the window. But if it's an SUV, van, truck, semi, etc, then all the characters use the same animation

Yes, I even think that there are more variety on this animations in gta 5 (I remember one animation where trevor breaks the window with the gun and then steals the car). I think you only can do this with some rifles, some shotguns and pistols

I like to add some things: If you use michael or trevor you can use assault rifle to carjack. And another detail of driver reaction, they can run away but call the cops on their phone, and crashing them will cancel their call.

You definitely can carjack with a rifle in GTA 5, but it might depend on the height of the vehicle and whether it was a base car or introduced in updates. When using a rifle, your character will whack the butt of the gun on the driver's head and make a gesture with their other hand to tell them to leave the car. If the window was intact, doing this will break the driver's window in the process.

The funniest moment so far in my GTA IV gameplay was when Niko had a minor collision with another car, causing the driver to get out immediately and start walking towards Niko's car. So I made Niko get out of his car too and start walking towards this guy. I thought we were going to fight, but the other driver stopped, looked at Niko for like two seconds, then quickly returned to his vehicle and drove away.

Couple of corrections: Test #1: Trevor has the slowest *(Grand Theft Auto)* animation on most cars except for example the one he tested it on. Test #2: The Assault Rifle (AK) and Carbine Rifle at least to my knowledge can only be used on some vehicle. Like this one 8:11 that's right next to you

You have all the characters to stand at different distances from the car and because of this, the time for stealing is very different.Some of them still have to walk to the car, and some start right away.

7:12 I have got to add this comment. The RPG and Grenade Launcher have an animation that's used specifically, and mostly when the car is not tall like that Cavalcade FXT. All protagonists open the door, hold the heavy weapon in the right hand, kick the driver in the face and pull them out, just like in CJ's animation. Possibly grenades and melee weapons are the ones to not have a dedicated animation. I love GTA IV so much, man. Rockstar expanded on the 'Grand Theft Auto' concept literally in this game.

Couple of things that needed to be added: - Michael has a special way to carjack the cars by just pointing out the drivers. - Low clearance vehicles in San Andreas are jacked by kicking down the driver. - IIRC there's some special animations where the driver refuses to let go the steering wheel - in GTA Online exclusively, you'll be threatened by the owner of the car and call a hit on you. This one is weird for two reasons: 1) how did they get your number? and 2) even if you kill the driver, they'll still send you a message from the afterlife and put a bounty on your ass.

Mistakes :In GTAV there is an animation for Rifles and shootgun, but only for the weapons from vanilla GTAV. The animations will not trigger with the DLC weapons.

if you Keep taping W You can carjack faster in GTA IV, Also driver's reaction in gta IV And V changes depending if you robbed them with a gun, if the npc dosn't have a gun it will *ALWAYS* run away, if it has a gun then it tries to eject you.

Some things to add are passanger side jackings. Like in gta:sa if you hit the gas during the animation carl will shove smack the driver out and the npc will smack their head on the pavement, knocking them out or killing them. But not hitting the gas the npc just gets out. Another is the bike jack from the front and ass bumps them off. There is also whether or not passager npcs will not realise right away the vehicle has been jack and they are stuck with you.

Correction: GTA 5 does have car jacking animations for long arms, they just only work on small cars like the surano and sentinel. With these, the character will bust the window with the butt of the gun and point it at the driver to intimidate them.
