I started the game when I was completely new to the game(I was like 12), and I had stopped playing the game up until I was 15, when I was more accustomed to the series. Using the Zekrom I caught, and some carful decision making, I was able to pull through(took me 2 hours). I just sped through the rest of the map until I reach Cynthia. I was able to beat her normally in my White play through half a year ago, with a higher level team and better Pokèmon.

Same age everything my first Pokémon game and I knew this was the end the final battle, the champion of the league. My infernape Charlie was his name whom I believed i beefed up in levels just to find out about her garchomp who would wreck me with earthquake. I can’t say how many times I reset my DS that week. Nor the number of times I raged left intentionally and trained on victory road for hours and hours, before finally beating her. Nothing overjoyed me more then beating her again in White, I still had the same infernape and beat her once again that battle still as intense as the first one so many years ago.

As much as everyone memes about how terrifying she is, my favorite part about Cynthia is how she's actually this big dorky sweetheart. She's mega polite, compliments you on your journey, refers to herself as a Trainer like you, and thanks you for your help at Mount Coronet. If you rematch her, she even says her grandma in Celestic Town had a lot of nice things to you. She's not just strong, but really wholesome and it's why she's one of the best Pokemon characters!

Something genius about Cynthia's Spiritomb that helps make her such an intimidating foe is actually her Spiritomb, one of the weaker members of her team. First of all, it's a Pokemon almost nobody will have seen on their playthrough, as finding it is so niche, and no other trainers use it, so this is your very first time encountering this thing, and you have no idea what it can do to you. Second, it is a Pokemon with no weaknesses, which further heightens being afraid of it, as your keep trying every move, and nothing seems to hit it hard. By the time her next Pokemon comes out, you're already nervous from Spiritomb, scared of whatever she has next. It's great

Spiritomb is a nice appetizer, but there's imo several more key team member she has First off is her lucario, it hits hard and fast, and just when you think you can at least deal a bit of damage before going down? Guess what? Extreme speed Next is her milotic, which is terrifyingly bulky, you would think hitting it with a special attack would be better, but then bam, mirror coat. All this made cynthia's already well made team into one that constantly catch you by surprise, especially since by the time most people face her, they're underleveled and is unlikely to outspeed her pokemon, meaning she has total control of the fight

What made her so powerful is that back in the day, we never knew what her Pokemon were and what level they were in. So seeing that level 62 Garchomp for the first time in 2006 completely blew everyone away and had the toughest Pokemon battle ever. People nowadays get to see her full team on the internet so they can prepare properly, which is why they will never understand the true power of the legendary Cynthia of the Sinnoh Region.

I fought her back in 2016, i was 8 so without any electronic device except my nintendo DSi, Cynthia was about to send garchomp into the battle and I instantly took out Floatzel with ice punch, my heartbeat went up when she oneshotted floatzel

SubaruGaming: If I remember correctly a choice scarf Weavile was one of the only ways to kill a Garchomp in competitive Pokemon back in the day. Only a choice scarf weavile could out speed a Garchomp and one shot KO it with a 4x effective ice move. So don’t feel to bad.

Louie Claus They’re gonna nerf her. Platinum was already a remake gameplay wise. Speed issues were mostly fixed, the graphics were better compared to the previous games (matches HGSS), the post game was drastically improved, along with some other gameplay changes including a better Pokédex.

When I first played Diamond I defeated Cynthia on my 33rd attempt I played her at her own game I used a Garchomp, Spiritomb and a Lucario as well as my Empoleon, Staraptor & Roserade but I had an easier time on Platinum as my Pokemon were quite high leveled due to immense grinding so I didn't struggle that much defeating Cynthia I was 17 when Diamond & Pearl were released and 19 when Platinum was released, Cynthia is by far the hardest Pokemon League Champion of any generation and without doubt the best.

Well after u beat lance for the first time the game is not completed yet, after that you need to fight all 8 kanto gym leaders and then u can have a rematch with lance. This time, his pokemon will be all at around lvl 70+. After that, you can fight red with lvl 88 pikachu haha

I really love the original Cynthia battles. They were so hard, especially when you were a lower level, which was often the case. That Garchomp was so good, you had to have a team member to specifically beat that one Pokémon, or else you’re going to have a bad time. And when you finally beat it, it’s so satisfying.
