That spellbound style was through the atmosphere! You can hear the potential, feel the energy and can’t help but admire this man’s passion. From 1994 and up we hear X’s distinctive voice. @KvngLxo3 жыл бұрын
In 1988 a Young DMX would meet another rapper in Sufolk County Jail, This rapper would be K Solo. X and K Solo would compete in a Rap Battle in Jail, after multiple rounds of intense battling DMX would supposedly pull out his newly developed "Spellbound Style". A Few months later his opponent K Solo would be released from prison and after getting a Record deal would release his single "Spellbound" in 1990 using the style. DMX felt as if K Solo stole his style and got the chance to release a song using it first, He would eventually diss him on the songs "The Original Author" and "Critical Condition" from his 1990-1991 Studio Demo E.P "Spellbound". Around this time DMX would meet DJ Superior and the Ruff Ryders who would go on to have a lot of influence on both his life and music career. After winning the Unsigned Hype in the Source Magazine in 1991 and creating a buzz around the local New York area, DMX would release his first single independently. This single was the "Catching The Same Hell/Born Loser" single and it was released in June of 1992, After this DMX would get signed to Columbia's label "Ruff House Records" and Re-release Born Loser as a Commercial Single with a Dr. Cuess Remix in 1993. Unfortunately the single would only have low sells and didn't manage to generate the expected hype, consequently "Ruff House Records" would drop DMX from the label leaving him without a record deal... With the advance money DMX got from the record deal the Ruff Ryders would invest in a studio and making a label, throughout 1993 and 1994 DMX would make freestyles, record songs and create as much as a name as he could in Yonkers. In 1994 DMX would record his first unreleased music video titled "Niggas Is Up To No Good" , the reason for the video not being released is unknown. He also recorded his 3rd Single "Make A Move/Cant Touch Me Kid" this year, Produced by Irv Gotti this single was also expected to make DMX blow up but again sold very small numbers and was swept under the rug... In late 1994 rap crew Harlem Knights under Ruff Ryders would agree to battle Original Flavor in the Bronx, New York. This night DMX would travel from Baltimore to battle Jay Z, and they would battle for a whole hour on a Pool table. Waah Dean (Ruff Ryders CEO) would stop everybody from recording DMX spit since his verses weren't copywritten, There is no footage and not a decided definite winner... DMX would actually collaborate with Jay Z on Mic Geronimo's track "Time To Build" later this year and Jay Z would sublimaly diss X on his verse. Throughout 1995 and 1996 DMX would record song demos, freestyles and feature on other rappers tracks. After The Lox got signed to Bad Boy in 1996, DMX featured on there track "Niggaz Done Started Something" with Mase and got alot of buzz from it being on DJ Clues Summatyme Mixtape. In December 1996 DMX was jumped for a robbery he didn't commit and would nearly die, He would have his jaw locked while in hospital. DMX would later rap for the CEO of Def Jam with his jaw wired shut and get signed to Def Jam in Early 1997 where he started working on his debut album, And the rest is history

@MR12AMAZING Жыл бұрын
@@terry8046Yeah exactly, 98 was perfect timing for X as there was a big whole in the rap game since PAC and Big died and a lot of other rappers that were prominent in the early 90's were falling off at that point. If he blew up in the early 90's I think he gets overshadowed and the emergence of PAC and Big would've stunted his momentum imo.
@KvngLxo Жыл бұрын
If he blew in 96 he woulda jus got bigger in 97-98. The anticipation and hunger he had for his first album wouldn’t have been as much. But potentially could have had more hardcore tracks like Niggaz Done Started Something tht showcased how he could spit more.
