It’s insane how much work was put into those sprites in Dream Team to make them feel coherent with the fully 3D environments, it’s WAY ahead of it’s time in terms of the “HD-2D” artstyle trend we see now with more and more RPG’s and even still looks better than most of them! It’s no wonder then that Dream Team took the longest to develop (3 years) and the subsequent remakes after looked a lot less impressive because they had way less development time (and most likely crazy crunch). Part of me wishes they stuck to the sprites in 3D environments style for Brothership, but I completely understand from budgettary and scale reason why they couldn’t and went full 3D with cel-shading, which also looks great.

Mario and luigi has the best combat system out of any rpg I have ever played. It's just so robust and unique, and you feel like theres no down time at all during combats unlike your typical rpg games where you'd spend most of your time waiting. So glad the series finally had another chance.

I'm playing my first (Superstar Saga remake) and couldn't agree more, no down time. I just wish it was a bit harder, I'm at the later half of the game and still have most of the items I've collected because I didn't have to use them yet. I get that it's kids friendly, but for that case there's easy mode.

And besides the combat, the thing I like the most about the RPG series (both Paper and M&L) is the writing. Most Mario games don't even have lines, and the RPG games always impress me with how funny and irreverent they are.

@@lucsaguiar I think the fix for the difficulty is to implement the Adaptive difficulty like in Re4, when the players perform so well, the game should get harder, and easier when struggling

AlphaDream was founded in 2000 and went bankrupt in 2019. However, I heard that most former AlphaDream employees did join companies under Nintendo like Monolithsoft, so the spirit is still alive.

The ds/3ds era was a special time man. It's an amazingly nostalgic feeling that I can't explain with words. You literally had to experience it to understand. I still have my 3ds XL to this day and cherish all the childhood memories i had with it

You missed having a giant battle in Dream Team and a Triple Attack in Paper Jam. Singles attacks are now always assisted in Brothership now. That's what we see in the reveal trailer, and they showed off a really cool new Bros. Attack, where Mario and Luigi use pumps and a cloud with lightning appears and strikes all enemies on the field! I always wanted to play a Super Mario RPG with both Mario Bros. and in 2003, that dream became a reality with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and it spawned 4 sequels! However, after Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, I got a new dream of another game with 4 playable characters with the Mario Bros. teaming up with Wario and Waluigi, but under the new battle system of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, I don't see it being possible. Under the old battle system, yes. The Cackletta boss battle in Superstar Saga was easier in the 3DS remaster. Also, Amiibos were too OP and made the game way too easy for me. Another thing is that they strapped the final battle in the M & L: SS Remaster. That was Cackletta's ghost. That battle was a lot easier than Cackletta's true form. She defeated me many times in the OG game before I finally defeated her. By the time M&L: BIS + BJ came out, I had already gotten the Switch and parted with my 3DS XL. So, I never played it, and that's fine because it didn't need to happen. They should have done a new game on the Switch. Then, Alpha Dream wouldn't have gone bankrupt. I've beaten all M & L games. I will beat this M & L: Brothership, too! I can't wait to get it!
