A good trick to get those exhaust springs off is a shoelace or any small piece of string/paracord. You could also buy a spring puller too I suppose but I prefer string, easy to get those hard to reach springs. I don’t have a SxS just something I know from ski doos.

the best thing for getting springs off is get an old screwdriver , heat up the tip and bend it into a U shape, perfect for removing and installing muffler springs. or you can go out and spend $50 on a spring removal tool but homemade is better, cuz you get to play with fire for a few mins :)
@ROTAXD7 жыл бұрын
the original mxzrevman I've always used an old T handled allen wrench, ground to a point, heated & bent at the tip. Or one can be purchased relatively cheap on amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B001KO7NHI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apis_1518293098978

Time to make an exhaust spring tool. Take an old stripped T handled allen wrench, heat & place a (roughly) 100 degree bend about 1/2" from bottom of wrench. File to point. Voila. You now have a T handled exhaust wrench that won't slip off of the springs and bust your knuckles. Or you can buy one on Amazon... www.amazon.com/dp/B001KO7NHI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apis_1518293098978

SXSBlog.com C'mon Nick, you just know you've got an old stripped t handled allen wrench laying around you want to make one out of lol. I used to deal with the busted knuckles when I was younger & working on the sleds. When I went to put the pipes on my Outlander is when I said fu(k it and made one.
@dougbutterfield55057 жыл бұрын
We're pretty cheap so when a T handle strips out we just grind it down and keep usin it, lol
@ROTAXD7 жыл бұрын
Doug Butterfield yea, as a general rule I grind mine down as necessary too. When I decided to sacrifice one of my 1/8" allens, it was around 0 in the garage as I hadn't put heat out there yet and after about the 4th time bashing the same knuckle on the same spot on the frame...I fugured fu(k it. It's earned it's keep over the last 8 or 9 years though.
