Evolution Simulator Gameplay Overview:
Use joints, bones and muscles to build creatures that are only limited by your imagination. Watch how the combination of a neural network and a genetic algorithm can enable your creatures to "learn" and improve at their given tasks all on their own.
The tasks include running, jumping and climbing. Can you build the ultimate creature that is good at all of the tasks?

This game uses a neural network to control the muscles. It starts of with a set of random weights in generation 1, what makes it "think," and adjusts them to be more effective. But this improvement happens *randomly*. Each creature is a slight variation on the best creature(s?) from the previous generation. So, with a larger population, there will be a greater chance of the creature "learning" to move correctly. I suggest setting the population as high as your computer can handle. If you notice that a lot of the time at the end of each generation is being wasted, you can shorten the seconds per generation. Don't make this too short, or your creatures won't have time to show off their full potential. The neural network used is very simple, as otherwise it would take forever to train. By going into the settings while in the editor and clicking the brain, you can edit the neural network. For complex creatures, you might think about adding more neuron layers, but keep in mind you wil have to wait more generations for improvement.

think in terms of pull and push for the muscles, joints forward and muscles between them gives the push to jump and joint backwards and muscle backwards pulls it back, you want to push forward. if you make a symmetrical design then it pushes from both the sides essentially neutralizing the movement, thats why your triangular twolegged guy couldn't move, because it neutralizes its movement everytime it tries

In life you have a pair of bones for each segment of the limbs, so you need to have paralleling limbs or at least pairing bones with muscles attached in a way that when one contracts the other is relaxing or air quotes expanding.

There is no such thing as victory. As of our own evolution over time, we grow and grow in our own image of perfection, which in a finite time will be our own downfall. Besides that, fun episode! I love your take on this game, and I hope it was as enjoyable to engineer creatures as it was to watch.
