Do you agree with how the officer handled this case? Should the man have been allowed to enter Australia?

The way he spoke to his wife on the phone was aggressive and disrespectful. Not surprising given one of his jail stays was for attacking a female. The wife is best off well away from him.

I think, sending him back home would put distance between himself and his family and it could be the time the wife needs to get away from him!

That NZ guy seems so volatile, angry and aggressive. How did he think that was going to work for him? And because of his own nature, he didn't even want to try to listen to the agent tell him what he could back in his country to try to get a legal visa. I wouldn't want to be that man's wife. He seems so angry and hot-tempered.

Where was the aggression and volatility?? He didn't seem angry to me... He seemed fed-up that his shitty plan didn't work out... I didn't see any aggression or volatility....

@@BeccaHetrick All of his hand movements were very aggressive. And him not taking the record after? And his odd aggressive head movements? It's funny, I almost always feel sorry for these guys. Drug mules, smuggling cigarettes, they're just struggling to make a dollar and the only difference between them and I is that I happened to be born in a country with a lot of opportunities. But this guy? Let's just say I'm not shocked regarding his extensive criminal history.
@dontbanmebrodontbanme5403Ай бұрын
@@BeccaHetrick It's funny, I just watched the whole thing again, looking for information about something unrelated to what you said and talking about his aggression again: * he actually kinda looks like he has the affect of someone who's been on a ton of drugs. His constant hand and head gestures and blinking and head twitching is off-putting. * the way he was talking to his wife on the phone after they denied him? The way he pushed the paper back and said he didn't want it. Everything about him screams a wild, unstable man and again, I'm not surprised he spent time in jail.

Anyone wouldn't want to keep a copy of that letter, honestly. Say you are refused to enter a restaurant... and then they give you a letter so that you have a copy of the official refusal... I was so ready to laugh at it. I can understand that the border man has a job to do, but he should understand why the other man was unhappy, right? Not that I like the criminal. It is just common sense.

I’m surprised New Zealanders need a visa to come to Australia. In the Nordic countries, we’ve never had visas between our countries, and a common labour market.
@simonj1521Ай бұрын
Only need a permanent resident visa if you plan on living there i believe
@itamaramithАй бұрын
Normally you don't, you automatically get issued a special category visa on entrance. However if you have a criminal record you're not eligible to an automatic visa and you have to apply for one.
@shadyexists8406Ай бұрын
@ @simonj1521 the Special Category Visa is granted automatically upon arrival to eligible New Zealand citizens holding a New Zealand passport, it essentially has all the rights of a permanent residency with no limit on how long you can remain here, but it is still a visa, with a condition of eligibility being for the passenger to not be considered a Behavioural Concern Non Citizen, defined as not having more than 12 months imprisonment. The Incoming Passenger Card (customs declaration) acts as the visa application - providing false information on which is not only an offence but would provide grounds for refusal/cancellation of this visa as well.

They have applications available to allow these people to get approved to enter the country. More timely/costly maybe but they have processes to do it.
