I’m so sorry you had to go through all that. It’s terrible. I haven’t caught up with all your vids, but I hope you’ve seen or are seeing a good psychologist. The religious trauma coupled with the sexual abuse trauma can be overwhelming. Good luck to you and thanks for being so open and honest. All the best.

There was a young girl in our congregation who went to the elders she was not believed as he denied it she was marked as a liar. We had taken her to the 1973 international assembly she told me she was having a baby and was being disfellowshiped immediately on return. She turned to her family who she had left them for the Truth as she was told to do. Her father refused to help telling her she had been warned if she chooses religion over her family not to bother coming running back. She left we didn't know were just disappear. The sad thing when I told my parents they were willing to take her in. Shockingly the father took her to court to be part of the babies life. He was so proud of himself that he didn't pay a dime in support because he didn't want to support a non-believer this is a man who denied any wrong doing. I hope she and her daughter who would be 43 today have had a happy life free from this organization

I actually just woke up this past April, on the 1st, April fools day, u can’t make this shit up, I’ll never forget it. It’s gotten a lot better since but the fact that my sister amd her fam are still in it makes it mega hard and frustrating for me since I can’t do anything because she obviously won’t talk to me. Even when I was trying to tell her about things I found out she almost immediately blocked me and I’m sure never watched any of the videos sent her and I also can’t even talk to my nephews. The oldest one even blocked me from his IG ( I’m sure my sister had him do it). It’s not really my thing to speak in front of a camera and I really don’t have anyone ( who would truly understand me that has been in this position) to vent. I try to do it by posting comments like this on ppl’s KZbin. If u ever need a friend to talk to feel free to msg me, I really wouldn’t mind having someone to speak to about this either, all the best.

I completely understand. As soon as I started finding the proof it wasn't the truth from their own books I tried to show them and immediately was blocked. I'm so sorry, but I promise it gets better. Put yourself out there, make new friends, I'm going to a support group next week for the first time.

I'm sorry you had so many bad experiences of being taken advantage of by people you should have been able to trust. JW parents are too trusting with other people in the hall. I could have easily been taken advantage of had my hall had perverts too. Looking back now I think there was a (married) brother that was starting to groom me as a teenager but I avoided him somewhat and eventually he stopped before anything crossed a line. But as a child you don't always recognize things before they cross the line to child abuse or inappropriate. Especially as a JW when you are taught to always see the best in your brothers and sisters.
@ms.anonymousinformer242
@ms.anonymousinformer242 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on most points. But do not say "Jws" as if every parent is as neglectful and awful, as hers. I am appalled at the behavior of her parents. I never trusted people alone with my kids, and the fellow JWs at my KH were no exception. Not because I had a reason not to trust jws. Because as a parent's JOB to protect their kids, you teach them that "going along to get along" is a verry bad trait to have, as you end up hurting only yourself. You NEVER "go along to get along" , that is putting others above your self.
@alishaba-
@alishaba- 3 жыл бұрын
@@ms.anonymousinformer242 When I said JW parents are too trusting I didn't mean to imply every single JW parent is so I'm sorry if you took it that way. And I'm definitely glad you were/are a watchful parent. I'm sure it protected your kids a lot. I have seen other watchful parents in the organization too, such as my husband who wouldn't let other JWs babysit our kids, be out of sight with them, etc. But in general, the JW culture itself allows situations that could put kids/teens in danger, at least from my own experience of growing up in it. I realize not everyone's experience is the same. For example, out in service in several halls I worked with, there were times as a child/teen that I would be alone in the car with a brother/adult when the other people in our group were on a call...sometimes for a significant amount of time. (Ex. If it was a car group of 4 and 2 people get out, myself and someone else would be left when it wasn't our turn. We had a lot of rural territory where I grew up, so it was often that not everyone got out at once.) Fortunately for me nothing bad ever happened to me, but had I been in a different cong it could've been a different story. In JW culture no one ever said anything about that being inappropriate when 2 people of the opposite sex or a child and adult are alone in the car, but in any other instance as a JW if you were alone with the opposite sex it would be looked down on...which is kind of a weird double standard. Once most JW kids got to a certain age (in my circuit anyways) they would often go in service without their parents in the same car group- for example working with their friends and family. Or even if a child was with their parent in the same car group, there were times where the parent would do a call with someone else and the child be left in the car with someone. Of course that was pre-pandemic so at least now JWs don't have those situations come up naturally now like they used to.

I'm so sorry that this has continued to happen to you your whole life basically I was raised a Jehovah's witness and I went through a lot but in a different way I was married to a presiding overseer elder's daughter who after 5 years of marriage committed adultery but yet I'm the one that got blamed because I started drinking to cover my pain so I was disfellshipped for drinking but that was a long time ago I was 27 years old we had two daughters by then she divorced me and marry the man that she was having the affair with but was never disfellowship like.me. I never returned to the JW Colt my mother and sisters haven't spoken to me in over 25 years until recently a few months back I got covid and was in the hospital for one month and they spoke to me a little bit I can honestly say at least in our congregation here in Oklahoma I never saw the things that you went through here but I saw plenty of other things growing up I witness I always knew that disfellowshipping in my mind was always wrong because we all make mistakes we're all sinners we're all imperfect in my mind you should try to help the brother or sister instead of kicking them when they're down in your case as we've seen so many other cases in the last years that came to light the elders never believe the person because of the two witness rule and they never turn it into the law enforcement I'm so sorry you went through what you've been through I hope that you can find peace I have found a wonderful relationship with God not in any church but just by having a personal relationship if they don't believe in or that you can have without being ajw and I can personally tell you that you can have a relationship with the Lord without going to any church it angers me to hear how much these men have done to you I would like to kick the ever-loving s*** out of them they're pieces of crap I wish I could take your pain away I'm so so sorry I thought I've been through a lot by losing my wife I always thought and felt that I wasn't good enough that she had to go find somebody else who was not even a witness but but yet she's never faced any consequences for what she's done because of her dad being the presiding overseer elder but yet they disfellowship me for drinking caused by what she done to me and yes I know it was wrong to be drinking I haven't done it in years I quit that a long time ago call her but I'm here if you need to talk I'm willing to listen sincerely Brian Bond

@@Overcomingreligioustrauma Think about what you can teach others through your mistakes? If you think about it, many people make the same mistakes, and you want to tell people how to prevent them because of the end results. I can think of many topics, like, don't ignore intuition (what is intuition?) Do we really need affirmation from others? Can we love ourselves enough to not have it? How to set boundaries with men, even family members? How to be assertive and not rude. How to privately reject without the threat of feeling threatened. I have many more, but that's a good start. I have learned to make it about them, but have your experience to fall back on. As far as getting out there, many schools, private and public, plus victim groups, will love to hear your story and lessons. @@olgagnails5752 It's good to know you're looking because you will find. Before this religion is called as 'Jehovah's Witnesses' since 1931. They called themselves as 'Bible Students'. Some of the Bible Students were formerly come from Adventist church. So more or less their teachings are somewhat similar. For example they do not believe in the teachings of eternal torment, hellfire, souls are not immortal, and they are pacifists (avoiding war). Some members of the Bible students were interested in symbols of other religions (because their former religion background). eg pyramid, ring, crown with leaves, etc. But since the leadership of Rutherfood (1925) all of this has been removed and banned to be used by Jehovah's Witnesses to this day because it all has to do with paganism.
