Thomas is a great guy. He was my boss when I volunteered with the Marie Trust in Glasgow, which is a charity which specialises in working with vulnerable people. A lot of people who came into the café for a cheap meal would be homeless and/or struggling with addiction. It's great to see he's been given a platform to share his story and to continue helping so many people. I learned a lot from him !

Yeah what he was saying was spot on. My problems heroin but absolutely I feel what you're saying about the need for human interaction and the way that loneliness and depression is able to effect someone in a surprisingly short time yknow......that's literally my world, I don't have any real friends there's no one I see regularly, on my own 24/7 its miserable and although I can't excuse my drug use with that fact its definitely contributing to the struggle. Recovering Ket addict here - thanks for sharing your story! Especially the bladder/kidney problems, which aren’t discussed enough. I was admitted multiple times and came close to dying from near kidney failure, I have developed a fistula between my reproductive & urinary tracts, and when I relapsed it only took a couple of uses before I was hospitalized as my kidneys started failing again. Even after a year of clean/recovery time, my kidneys couldn’t cope - and I know that if I use again I’d be risking organ failure. It’s a helpful bit of knowledge for keeping me on track lol. Ive tried coke various times. Its a very mild high compared to most drugs. All I get is a boost of confidence. That's it. Never needed to recreate the feeling of the first hit, because it was nothing special. Obviously a coke addiction is brutal, as with most addictions, but its not even remotely comparable to Crack or Heroin. Ive known coke addicts, and known plenty who've died from Heroin. Coke addicts waste their money as most of the time, but are generally pretty functional. Heroin addicts rarely make it out alive.

No, I totally disagree - and I would be very afraid if life post drugs was miserable. It does not have to be. If you embrace the solution by doing the right things with the right intentions, life does get not only bearable, but pleasureable too. I think what you mean is that life will constantly throw things at you regardless of using or not, but recovery enables you to make the right choices and deal with life on lifes terms without fear. As always, we have a choice - we can eithher live in the problem, or the solution.

The guy got a point, he may not stated his view in the right way but unfortunately is obvious that people would never stop to engage with substances and the whole shaming and criminalizing don't work at all and create a huge business for gangs, mafia etc . And that make so much more damage on top with territorial dispute, deaths and the substances are dirty, filthy and full of bad cut agent that damage more than the drug itself. with decriminalization, proper regulation, will help in so many way and there is proof with Portugal. Instead of shaming and isolating the user (that is proved to be more harmless) you reintroduce whoever is struggling in society, handing over a hand instead of striking them with it and through therapy you find the cause for the self medication and the reason why the feel uncomfortable with them self sober. Also the tax paid from legal substances bought not from gangs but from the government, clean and regulated, could be use to whatever need urgent funding. I can keep going why will work but what is obvious to everybody is that how the drug abuse is been approached isn't working and his spirals down day after day. Inform yourself and others and stop the judging coz everyone at the end of the day is struggling with something

What really wound me up about either this video, or another recent video about a man who was a heroin addict is that he said “can I swear?” and the female interviewer replies “sure, no problem”, then it’s blanked out. It’s so pathetic. If you’ve produced many videos where swearing was no issue, why suddenly start censoring. Lived in London more than half my life, back in Scotland, never lost my accent. Regarding the amounts, you never met a real coke addict who has the cash to splash? Shit's sooo damn fiendish. This is the reason the ones without the cash go off robbing people and doing other desperate things, then they end up on crack, which is even worse - but cheap for a short-acting hit. Cokeheads with money will do crack too, even seek it out. Believe me, this story adds up.

Hence now having this weird accent. What's to work out... Also as stated again, for and all the other IDIOTS who haven't watched the video, I never said it was spent all on drugs. It was wasted on stupid expensive drinks, champagne, VIP tables, drugs and other shit that costs a fortune. Hope this clarifies it for you :)

Worst part of being clean of speed for 10 years has been boredom. When I was using speed I was happy on my own I could always find some pointless thing to do. Like the paste stuff? I remember being really shocked first time I saw it like that, heroin and benzos were my thing, but being in that world you see stuff. I've been clean since 2017, and that sort os speed was already hard to get at that point (base, I think that's what its called) Never heard of anyone selling crystal meth, thank fuck. Can't imagine the nightmare it would be introducing that stuff into already decimated communities. Xanax was becoming thing, more people I know died from that than heroin. 3 in a ten day period at one point I'm so, so so grateful to be clean 🖤

@@jennsimpson_backup3333 Yep base the putty like stuff that people would say put it in the fridge it needs to be damp. But the damp was from the chemicals they made it with. If it was dried out it was just as potent but could be snorted although I usually had it in a wrap no taste then. I tried other stuff weed, E, acid, special K, codeine, coke, valium and had dia morphine (heroin) and morphine in hospital after a bad bike crash. Meth wasn’t a thing in the UK until recently thankfully. After I quit and got my head clear I managed to get an appointment where I was diagnosed with ADHD which explained why I liked speed. Now I enjoy a can of beer and once in a blue moon a spliff and life is way better. I am prescribed extended release methylphenidate for my. ADHD and that works for me. If I’m honest I do miss speed occasionally but it led me to dark places I wouldn’t want to go back to.

Unfortunately i have been wrecked in both manners and trying to get the help needed in the u.k is a nightmare. Wether its for the drug abuse or wether its to get the help to stay clean because u just cant get life together no matter how much u try. Id recommend anyone whos taking drugs to look at there actions take a step back and ask yourself is that the you, you are happy with ? To also remember that evan if u sort yourself out drug wise that could very well be your life done. No friends no family. The lonelyness that stems from that is a killer. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. As in reality it has turned me into a vile and dangerous person. To the point that im aware of this so i just hide myself away from the world. I think it's time for me to stop using ketamine, I've started getting hooked on it. I just thought like.. "Alright I'm just gonna make this a once in a while thing." but it just ends up getting to a point where you're doing it on Mondays, then Tuesdays, then Wednesdays, and then it's just got you and before you know it, you're doing it all the time and doing it just to escape from a stressful day. It's not good man.

My 27-yr old bf died from an overdose 2 months ago. Drowned in a pool after mixing nicotine, alcohol, Xanax, muscle relaxer, and ketamine. Let me tell you: was a zombie and severely depressed from childhood trauma. Refused to go to rehab or talk to a therapist. But, within the span of two years--he wet the bed overnight 3 times. Yes 3. Moreover, he had chronic bladder, pee, constipation, and incontinent issues. Ketamine is no joke!!!!!!

You are absolutly right that alcohol is in many ways the worst drug. There are far more deaths from alcohol than all drugs combined. On the leagalsing it is a hard question. Alcohol is legal but it does not stop people drinking. However i do not think users belong in prison. They need help. Rehabs and or NA. Then put into voluntary work and eventuly paid work. Build a sence of worth and belonging. Prison just pulls them down and achives nothing. John alcoholic greatfully 34 years sober.

Improve on prevention. How do you think we do that? Education, right? And not treating a medical issue like a criminal one? Can you think of another disease it's against the law to suffer from? If someone is so desperate they will commit awful crimes just to get what they need, knowing there are huge consequences, how do we fix that? Decriminalisation helps, it stops that addiction to prison to addiction to prison cycle. By making drugs accessible to people who use them, you take the power away from dealers. You stop anti social behaviour because there is no need to steal or mug someone if you can get what you need in a safe, controlled way.
