Make it a crime for the leaders if they place soldiers with machine guns into civilian areas without it being a war. These actions come from the top. And we also learn the Ministry of Defence / Military Attacks will support an appeal even though the police stated "the soldier's statement of events are the least likely". The military are controlled by the Tories, who do not want peace in Ireland. Make it a crime for leadership to try to cause and forment division among the people. Do people wonder why these issues don't exist in the Republic even though there are both communities there as well? Both communities live happily and peacefully side by side and the Republic. The money is given out equally, schools, hospitals and other services are placed equally, without trying to divide communities. Still no operating parliament in Northern Ireland. This situation is going on for several years supported by the Tories. The Tories seem to cause trouble for the people and exploit them in England, Wales, Scotland, and all parts of Ireland.

As a British Person, I don`t accept this wet finger on the Trigger nonsense or that he did not know it was cocked. He was a member of a Guards Regiment, not some Micky Mouse outfit, so the Rifle drills would have been hammered home to him. On another note, these historical cases should have a Time line built into them, it is no good pursing something that is say 30 years old, it is just too faded and getting to the absolute truth, would be virtually impossible. Also, I would love to hear the views of the people who are saying NO amnesty in these cases when it came to releasing Bombers and Gunmen, under the amnesty of The Good Friday Agreement and that goes for both sides by the way. It`s time to put all what happened during The Troubles to bed and move forward, for everyone concerned and concentrate on the future.

The IRA/Loyalists negotiated, and the British Government agreed to - an amnesty for both Republican and Loyalist paramilitaries for most crimes committed during the Troubles. That was a painful compromise. It led to the release of people responsible for deaths on both sides of the conflict. That negotiated outcome never included a blanket amnesty for crimes committed by British servicemen. Had the British Government insisted on that during the negotiation, it's likely the US/EU/Eire governments would have insisted on more far reaching compromises from the British/Loyalist side on other matters around Language, holding a self-determination vote, entrenching ECHR jurisdiction etc. It is a horrible idea for the British Government to unilaterally renege on the Good Friday Agreement because they don't like the political consequences of some parts of the agreement. Indeed, whilst these ex soldiers requires investigation for the acts that day; can we also bring a case for the ring leaders of this deadly riot to court based on throwing house bricks at soldiers? The thing is,... Most of these paratroopers were young and inexperienced. The aggression they were faced with was violent beyond any expectation. This was VERY bad policy and instruction from the UK government. In short they were not prepared and had not been given sufficient notice. See, ultimately what we all need to accept is that when you give a gun to 19 year old teenager/ soldier and then confront that lad with house bricks thrown at their heads then regertibly you end up with a very bad result! Sadly this is the whole truth of this sad situation. But doesn't seem to be addressed by the media or anyone else?

Sad for the family. But an 18yr old with a loaded weapon in this situation. Once he pulled the trigger and it took a life. My money not to do anything to do with law. He would suffer for the rest of his life. Then he has been under the magnifying glass since. His intention wasn't to kill as shot fired hit the road. There is a chance he was holding SLR with finger tight against the trigger with safety off. The victim was known to the security forces and the gunman would have been on heightened alert. Within seconds for some reason the trigger was pulled. The only result could be manslaughter. Bearing in mind a man died I suspect the other has been dead inside to a degree since. I don't think after all this time a prison sentence would be appropiate. He is not a risk to society. More likely he may well be a risk to himself.
@Raggman422 жыл бұрын
So it's alright because he was known to security forces but was he what evidence have you of that? Was he in prison because he held the hand of a Protestant girl many many Irish Catholic lads were in prison because it didn't go down well you know Catholic and Protestants mixing together. Unionists loyalists and some say British government people involved too tried to send a van back to Dublin on it's way back from the six counties of Ireland with bombs 💣 in back of van which would have killed a lot of people in Dublin. There is rules of engagement while enforcement of the law but it's British government officials and British officers who should be answering questions on these killings and ruc officials udr officials too
