The nightly sign off of "Stay safe, wash your hands, we love you" was honestly so comforting during these weird times. It always seemed genuine and heartfelt in a "we're all in this together" kind of way. I know these silly strange shows have been a huge pick me up personally over these past months

I totally agree, I'm a nurse at a large urban hospital and I have spent many a sleepless night in the last 5 months. But I literally lived for these Closer Look segments every night. I would listen to them over and over every time I woke up in the middle of the night wondering if I had a sore throat, cough, fever, etc. And I slept alone all these months because I didn't want to risk even the slightest possiblity of getting my wife sick. Thanks for sharing ❤️

I watched a documentary on Watergate and I kept saying to myself, “that’s...that’s it? That’s all that happened? It’s not even that bad.” And then I sat back and realized how very, very low the bar is now. He will never be held accountable.

Tilly1770 Yeah being at a point where people don’t think Watergate was that bad really does show how low the bar is. It’s really disgusting how Watergate is supposed to be one of THE biggest scandals in American political history, and now the bar is so low that people are like “🤷🏽‍♀️”. Obstructing an investigation is just ONE of the things Trump has done.

I think it is a totally apt analogy for Trumpism and this comment should have more likes. Although it has been cited as “A Turkish Proverb” on the internet, and I’m sure it is a proverb in Turkey, this proverb has been around for millennia. There are versions of this in Hebrew, Ancient Greek (Aesop has a version which I recall from my childhood), Urdu, Persian, and many other western Asian languages, I think the oldest known is Ancient Assyrian and there even is a Rush song called the Trees which references this fable.

I'm not gonna lie, the first show back with a live studio audience is going to be really weird. I actually have really enjoyed these segments and the lack of audience laughter behind them. The humour got more warped, and the jokes got more biting. Not sure if that will translate back as quickly, but at least once they allow people back in to watch the tapings live again, we'll know that life has finally returned to some semblance of normalcy. Thanks to Seth and the rest of the Late Night crew for helping me get through this nightmare with a shred of my faith in humanity intact. I'm really going to miss your at-home shows. The bits were absurd, endearing, and just what I needed to get through the darkest days of this pandemic. That you've continued to raise money for City Harvest, while other late night shows' fundraisers petered out, proves you and your team's commitment to providing more than just laughs during these hard times. Thank you. I especially love how you ended each show with "Stay safe. Wash your hands. Wear a mask. We love you." It inspired me to end my work emails with "Stay safe and healthy," which I then truncated to "Take care." I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes, but it certainly rings more sincere than "Regards." Farewell to the Sea Captain and all the other goofy characters, and good luck to you and your land-loving crew back in New York!

Seth, if there's one thing you take away from the past 4 months, I hope that you understand how much the Closer Look segments have helped keep so many of us sane, given us some hope and helped us weather the ongoing storm. Don't ever stop. I realize how absurd it is to suggest that a late night show segment has help me keep it together but if there's something we've learned, it's that leadership and reason come from places you don't always expect to find it when you're surrounded by chaos and so much idiocy. You probably didn't think a career in comedy would lead you down a path where you become one of the most clear/sober voices of reason during political/social turmoil, but here you are.

These shows have been a bright spot in my day that I could look forward to and know that you are going to verbalize what we all know to be true in a refreshingly hilarious way. They've helped me maintain sanity in an insane time and I'm so grateful for them. Thank you for continuing to do your show. Please don't ever forget that what you do matters. I will miss your Pretty In Pink hair, but like our time with the Sea Captain, all good things must come to an end. I'm taking care, I'm wearing a mask, I'm washing my hands, and I know I speak for many when I say that we love you too.

Hi Seth! I am a Brit who has only just found you and I have so enjoyed rerunning your shows!! Over the last 6 months I have become obsessed with "What has Trump said or done today to harm America, democracy and every American he is supposed to represent, support, defend and lift up?" and I want to show my absolute support for all Americans who are actually living with Trump's madness every day. I want to thank you Seth for educating me and giving the madness a comedic slant whilst also making sure that your viewers understand the seriousness and the danger of everything Trump and his equally lawless, unethical and untruthful cronies say and do daily that harms America. Needless to say, but every Brit I speak to is as shocked and embarrassed for you all as I am!! Why isn't this guy being held accountable? Why are your reporters so soft on him? Why does Fox support him so unfailingly even though he lies to them just as much as everyone else? Why isn't he in court for not releasing his tax returns? How is he getting away with everything he has done? We don't understand that!! Thanks for your show, it's been great to see you in your home and your kids are a joy!! I'll continue to follow your show in the studio and you can use what I have said as a Brit who just doesn't understand how the crook ever got elected in the first place! Crazy as it is I'm bummed you're going back to the studio. I've grown quite fond of your show at home. Thanks Seth and crew.

Seth, ever since you earned your seat on Late Night, your show has been my favorite talk show. Thank you so much for doing "A Closer Look" from home. I wish you a happy return to the studio.

There was a hurt in my heart that you and other late night hosts refused to let me feel, and for that, I will never know how much I am grateful for you. Thank you.

I loved that one too, and the 80s movie of them coming together to save the post office.

@@ladymopar2024 agreed! I've loved the informal, we're-all-in-this-together vibe. It's meant a hell of a lot!

Being a voice of reason and humor in the face of the near ruination of the USA... and walking us through the insanity of this country today. We are lucky this thing did not wipe out this country. We are damned lucky it did not. Anyone think that Putin has already figured out how to disrupt the election with this? Makes you think that perhaps it was not just mismanaged... Deliberate?

Seth Meyers, I saw you years ago at a taqueria in San Francisco after the Carnaval Parade. You were so laid back and not full of yourself like a lot of famous people are. I love your late night "Closer Look" and look forward to seeing/ hearing more when things return to "normal".

The ending got to me. THANK YOU SETH AND TEAM - I'd not realised how much you've uplifted me with your at home shows; seeing you guys work so well (and quirkily) from home has made what I'm going through feel a bit less weird and painful. much love.
