But, we also love to see the process of cleaning and making new all the parts from sandblast to paint. As well as the repairs. Love you and Kevin at it. Back in the late 80's picked up a used army K5 blazer. SNAFU must have been the norm because someone left the air cleaner lose and a family of mice moved in. Long story short, every cylinder was packed solid with mouse house materials. After a total rebuild, new wire harness, new fuel tank, hoses, belts, tires, etc.,etc., etc., she ran like a dream. She had a whopping 63,800 miles on her. Sold her to a buddy, he drove it as a daily driver for well over 20 years. He still owns her, she's parked in his shop collecting dust these days. Tried to buy her back but he isn't letting her go. She now has over 300K miles on the meter. Starts and runs like brand new. Should have never sold her!

Had a friend with a masters in mechanical engineering overhaul a John Deer tractor engine. 4 cyl gas and couldn't fig out why the oil pressure was low. After completely tearing it own again, someone with a lot less education asked if he bothered to check the oil bypass located near the filter....duh..lol!

I'm proud of you,Clint. You bought Kevin a kitty Cat to love and call his friend. The comparison between the 850J and the D6R are very similar, except accessibility and being acustom to working on them. It's nice to see your dad in more videos helping lately as well.

You never know what kind of surprises you'll find with something like this. It takes a special kind of "not my dozer" to leave the fuel cap off and then they don't even at least throw the final drive shafts in the cab or something. Makes a guy wonder about how these things come about sometimes, but you and Kevin will get the kitty purring again.

I had a Rusty dozer tank that was also full of Algae... Took a hot water pressure washer and just ran the hot line into the tank filler neck.. then took a 375 air compressor with a blow bar on it.. went through the sight glass with the blow bar and SENT IT! blast it out and re filled.. did this like 10 times... 180 degree water... The tank had baffles which made it harder but I came out victorious lol... Left the blow bar in at the end for an hr and a half, half cracked.. used the hot air to dry out tank... No more plugged filters!!! 💪

as I'm captivated by vehicle repair videos what's evermore apparent is the NEED for reading/research/learning for each specific application. Some research is more involved than other. Moral of the story: learning is ongoing and eternal If school teaches you anything it's HOW TO LEARN. The chapter: "Theory of Operation" must be digested as needed.

That 6R is a nice operating machine. The steering and shift is all on the one lever. Push forwards for left pull back for right. Shift by twisting. Middle in neutral. Do not leave idling with safty lever engaged or torque converter overheats. You have a very good veiw. That is even wired for satalite GPS to pull programed grade on road building or pads. That transmission is a fairly easy rebuild also. Even a new operator can run that easy. Once they get used to deacselerator. The track turn is by speeding up the track on one side.so you always have power pushing your dirt both tracks.

Unless the specific unit has a lot of training and/or project work, they get minimal hours. Our combat engineer unit had D-7’s and other heavy equipment (1970’s in Germany). I kept inquiring about potential work, and would fine projects that we could do as “training”; tried to do the same itch our JD410’s and 2.5 Cy bucket loaders. Otherwise they would have had minimal hours. The M&S label makes me think it was used for base support rather than being assigned to an engineer unit. Also, the condition doesn’t lend itself to military unit maintenance (which in our case would never look than bad except in a can point.

If it's a mistake, I'm bettin' you can fix it cheaper than most. I've witnessed this model of D6R in serious action. Cripes was that thing a beast and a half. Made a normal D6 look like a pansy. Do your best & I bet it turns out. Thanx.
@davidlane11693 ай бұрын
In terms of what impressed me about it's operation was that for a smaller dozer, the thing had more 'ass', could push more dirt physically than anything near it's size. It reminded me very much of watching a fully loaded 850 Deere which I'm sure you are quite familiar with. In terms of quicker track wear, that sort of makes sense because smaller sized tracks are going to wear quicker being stressed so. Thanx

From what little I know, that's not even broken in yet. • Is it just me, or are excavators the most versatile machines? Digging, lifting, pushing. • You go, Jay. . .even if your a Ford man. We still support you. 😉 • Kevin is so safety conscious. . .bless his heart. • Mmmm, comes with Cosby sauce. 😃 • Missing Sun gears. Doh! 😵 • Yup, ahe's a sooter! • Well, she kind of fires with a sufficient amount of ether. Just need to get enough fuel and pressure in there. 👍 • Cylinder 1 clickin'. Cylinder 6 clickin'. Cylinders 2, 3, 4, 5 electric solenoids not clickin'. Gotta start opening up stuff, starting with the valve cover. Stop it, Clinton! You're making Kevin throw up in his mouth! 🤮 Poor, long-suffering Kevin. • Time to take injectors out. 🤕 • Yeah, something got hot. • Invoking Curt at Area Diesel Service. Good call. 👍 • Yep, looks like some damaged wires on the harness. Stupid rats/mice 🤕 • Ooooo, ordering some new injectors and a wiring harness. 😉 • Part 2 of the video for this dozer coming soon. 👍

We used to pull the final drive shafts on down dozers if we were going to drag them, but we also didn't pitch them... 😂 On the injectors, those harnesses are notorious for falling apart and the plastic on the connectors melting/distorting. The oiling system is like the 7.3 PS and 6.0, there's a low side and a high side. If the machine has sat for a long time, it can take a while cranking to get the high side with sufficient oil to get the injectors pumped up and the air purged.

working on my friends LMTV military truck there are always a bolt or two missing. The two idler pullies for the belts were missing the adjustment lock down bolts, they just overtightened the pivot bolts on the idlers to hold them. It had lots of electrical gremlins. Suddenly it would not move at all. We finally pulled out the biggest circuit breaker panel I have ever seen (the whole passenger side of the dashboard is a breaker panel) once removed we found 6 or seven major wire looms with chewed wires. luckily the mice did not eat the wires only the coatings so they were shorting to ground and each other. We had to reinsulate 20 or more wires and install a new breaker board due to all the mouse urine. Once we finished it started up and ran like a dream. another odd thing with this vehicle, all the wiring is white. not one colored wire loom on the truck. no wonder the mechanics go nuts with this stuff.
