Yeah.. The corporate cousin Smart #1 actually already has it, so it shouldn't be a "huge" problem to implement it here as well.

I wouldn't mind if they lowered the preheating threshold to 10%, but I agree that there should be a button that turns that on. That's the beauty of a SDV (software-defined vehicle). They can just add that through an OTA update. No need to take it to a dealer or wait for an updated model year that adds that feature. Hopefully, they can also add a more aggressive one-pedal driving mode as well.

Yeah, hopefully Volvo can fix this rapidly.. and totally agree on the OPD. It's really weak here in the EX30

Can confirm the AC charging bug. Strangely, it's with a vapor Grey single extended range as well... Every time I turn off the car and need to charge over AC I need to go into the settings and turn up manually the max charge to 32A. If I don't do that, and even if the charging limit is turned off, the car only charges at 6A which gives 1.3Kw :( Hope this bug will be solved ASAP with an OTA. it's a bit puzzling that the yellow version doesn't have that problem. My car is using version 1.2.1 it's shown as the last one available.

I have the same issue. Wifes car can only charge at 3,8Kwh because it defaults to 6A, even when it's "disabled". So after sliding it up to 32, we are getting around 10,3Kwh on a 11Kwh charger. Thanks to this video and your comment we found the solution, hopefully they will update this fast. Another problem we also have is that the "Internet in the car" isn't working. Volvo are apparently using Yousee internet here in Denmark, so I'm thinking that might be the problem as they are pretty crappy :)

Battery pre-heat/cool would also be great with Cabin pre-conditioning.. On a side note with my XC40 .. during the two hottest days last Summer in UK I noticed my A/C stopped working in the cabin ... I concluded that the car was prioritising cooling the traction battery.

So let me get this straight..... you're using 3% / 4% of your battery charge pre-conditioning it (02:45) to save 2 minutes of charge-time (18:13) ? If 4% of your charge is worth 2 minutes of your time I'm wondering what your hourly rate is.

No that was an example from the XC40.. At it alt depends on outside temperature, and for how long you need to preheat. So could be 1% or could be 4%. The gain here with the EX30 was only 2 minutes, but there's bigger gain on my XC40.

A preheat button would be great! I currently drive a Tesla and can't charge at home but there is a fast charge station right around my corner. I so wish I could force the battery to preheat from the app and then take my car to the fast charger 10-20 minutes later.

Really! It is shocking that anyone would waste there time counting the minutes trying to charge there car when you can fill up at a gas station in about 10 minutes. Has anybody did the math on how much the battery costs to replace when they reach the end of there life. I bet it would be more than the car is worth. Will receive my V 90 XC mild hybrid petrol in a couple of months. 😊

If you lease the car and drive it for 3 years, it's not my problem to replace the battery. 99% of cases I have fuelled car in the morning and don't need to freeze myself in a cold gas station in winter mornings.

You've compared a 20% to 80% charge session with preheating to the time it took to go from 20% to 80% after heating the battery by charging it from 0% to 20%. I'm not sure what that proves. More interesting would be to do two tests starting at 20% and ending at 80% where you use preheating in one test and don't use it in the second test.

The point was to see if there was a benefit at all to use the preheating. Because now the car will only preheat if you arrive a rapid charger with over 20%. And wanted to see if there was any benefits, compared to just drive it as far as you would like. Without preheating.

You're asking which one of these plans makes most sense with an EX30 on a road trip: (1) use the preheating and make sure you stop to charge before the state of charge drops below 20%, or (2) forego preheating and drive the EX30 down close to 0% before you charge. OK, that makes sense. That's a choice that the EX30 pretty much forces us to consider. But if that's the question, then the preheating almost doesn't matter. What matters is the terrible charging speeds between 0% and 10% state of charge. What I'd be curious to learn is what happens on a road trip if you stop to charge with a state of charge at 10% or slightly above. Obviously, you cannot preheat the battery in that situation. But perhaps the battery is warm enough after the long drive to accept something close to its 150 kW maximum.

It’s a good car for someone who enjoys just being able to drive a car. For me, it’s got to be the Vauxhall Combo Life Electric with Wheelhome Vikenze III camper conversion.
