Hello Professor, I have force vs displacement results from a pull test. The pull tests were performed on 2 similar materials bonded by an adhesive. How do I convert it to a Stress vs Displacement plot to get the traction-separation constants?

Dear Prof. Barbero, I am looking to discuss FEM models for simulating coating delamination in scratching scenario. Do you have any work in that regard? Numerical models?

Sorry, I don't.

Dear professor, For failure criteria TMSC is ok or one should go for Damage mechanics and CZM also, is all criteria are necessary to check. Also is failure criterion depends on manufacturing process like is it suitable to use TMSC for VRTM(Vaccum resin transfer molding) processed composites. Thank you Professor

TMS is OK for preliminary design. Once you have finalized your decision about the material, LSS,thickness, everything, then you do "detailed analysis" and then you may or may not need more powerful damage criteria. That is how my books are organized. "Introduction to Composite Materials Design" is for preliminary design. You should study chapter 7. Then, "Finite Element Analysis of Composite Materials Using Abaqus" is for detailed analysis. There may be an indirect relation between manufacturing process and FC, but that is too sophisticated at the preliminary design stage. If it is laminated, then use TMS. Read my two papers at the SAMPE Conference, 2018 and 2019. You can download them from my list of publications on my website, or ask me to send them to you.

@@EverBarberoDear Professor, Thank you, are these papers correct. 1. E. J. Barbero. Universal knockdown factors for strength of carbon/epoxy laminates. In CAMX 2018, 2. E. J. Barbero. Universal carpet plots for stiffness and strength design. In CAMX 2017.

Hi . How to determine the parameters like the penalty stifnesses and Fracture energy? Also if someone could tell me can it be determined from the experimental DcB curve F vs Disp curve.
@EverBarbero2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be done from the opening vs load plot. Wait until the 2nd Edition of the book appears soon, it will be there, explained in full detail.

I don’t know what a “element based surface” is, That is not what I used, which is a “surface based element “, not the same thing.
