Thank you Sir. It is very helpful. I have a query, at 4:13 it should be "50% chance for having non-Hemophiliac son"? Please clarify
@phillipwg9925
@phillipwg9925 5 жыл бұрын
Yes it should be 50%, given that they have a son. Sounds like a small oversight. Have to be careful, it depends on how the question is asked- given that they have a son OR given from all offspring (daughter & sons) Later @ 4:32 they ask about given that they have a son- what is chance they don't have hemo.? It's 50% - so non hemo is 50% as well.

About Studies the chance of having a son with haemophilia is 25% as a whole (because it is also including the probability of having a daughter). If it asked what would be the chance that any son they had inherited haemophilia, then it would be 50%.

25% I am so confused? for the daughter he said 50% because there is only two possible ways to get but why for male is 25%?

The question is asking about daughter . So ignore the male part . So 2 daughter = 2:2 . 1 daughter =1:2 which is 50 percent

Ahhh. “If they have a daughter (50 %) what are the chances she will have hemophilia” 1/2 Compared to What are the chances they will have a hemophiliac son. (25% out of total) 1/4. Tricky wording

sir, how about writing the genotypic and phenotypic ratio of that offspring using the problem you used in this video? please help me, I'm so confused about writing it. I'm confused whether writing the genotypic and phenotypic ratio is to write is based on gender or writing it as whole. Hope you help me with this concern. Thanks

you had reported that it was a 50% chance of having hemophilia as a daughter, but the Hh for the daughter is heterozygous non disorder/ only carrier.. So she doesn't actually have it. Her children could. That being said the percentage to answer the question the way its worded, "Percentage that she will HAVE hemophilia", that is actually only 1:4. Because for recessive disorders you have to have both recessive allele's to have the disorder. similarly, in the x-linked recessive case, the girls have the second X chromosome that work as a back up so to say. She wouldn't actually have the disease.

The question said IF they had a DAUGHTER. Out of the FOUR scenarios there are two. Two daughters only. We disregard the other two scenarios because they have a Y chromosome which makes them male. So OF the TWO scenarios we have - X(H)X(h) and X(h)X(h) only ONE of them will have haemophilia. The second one will. Because she has two Xh chromosomes. The first one will only be a carrier.

The individuals who do not have hemophilia. Even if they are a carrier, they are still phenotypically normal because it is not expressed in their phenotype

Can you do this one “A family that lives in Kentucky has a rare genetic disorder; some of the family members have blue skin. Normal skin color (N) is dominant to blue skin (n) color. A woman and man who have normal skin color produce a child with blue skin.”

hi can i ask... what if its animals? Lets say male birds are ZZ and female birds are ZW. And barred feathers are (ZB) while non-barred feathers(Zb)... then if ill make a punnett square between barred female and a non barred male chicken, how do i cross them? Hope you'll notice...
@mmiikkaylla
@mmiikkaylla 3 жыл бұрын
I think you're looking to far into it. If the birds are still female and male, females would still be XX and males would still by XY. This does not change since it's specifically sex-linked traits
