It has to be god’s will. I stumbled on your video just now. Did large/medium scale construction in the military. Got out Mar ‘22 and have been bouncing from job to job and wanting so badly to start my own excavation business. But like you I have a wife and 2 kids to ensure I’m providing for. Your inspiring, thanks for lighting a fire under my ass. I’m going after this starting this minute, I have been praying everyday for god to show me some sort of direction and a way forward to do what he is calling me to do. Thanks again man, I look forward to seeing your growth and keeping up on your journey.

Good story!! I’m 46 just shut down a family plumbing business two years ago( had 5 employees quit in a few months and takes years to retrain, I burnt out etc….) my hearts always been in equipment. Been a dozer, excavator, crane/picker operator also since a young teenager. Been working the last two years on the road as an operator for another company and love it but just found out we’re havin a baby haha(I’m old) so it’s time to be back home full time. Already own a 6000ish pound mini ex, trailer, truck. Fixing to buy my first skid steer track loader and turn my side thing into the main thing. Eventually as it grows I plan to buy a larger mini but we’ll see! Lots of prayer has gone into this plan and things seem to be moving smoothly. Glad to see your doing good. I’m new to skid steers but have done some finish grading with it at work and really like it. Good luck moving forward and keep makin videos…. I’m thinkin bout doin that too

I literally ask GOD for a sign, then I typed my search in for what can you do with a 4ton excavators. I clicked on 1 video, lost interest, then I found this video, and all I could hear, is, GOD & PRAYER and I LOVE IT, I'm taking it as my sign. I'm starting up a construction company here in Jamaica, I've bid on several jobs and lost them, I've bought machines that have sat for 3 plus years, with a family to feed it does get overwhelming, but this video right here reminded me, with Christ in the vessel I can smile at the storm, the storm is over and MY SUCCESS BEGINS NOW IN JESUS NAME. GOD BLESS THIS MAN IN THE VIDEO AND EVERYONE WHO READS THIS COMMENT.

Exciting times going out on your own Good rule of thumb is to lay back $10 per hour on each machine for maintenance, tracks etc… When everything is new it’s all great but eventually it’s gonna take $$ to upkeep I see new businesses fail allot because of this, not planning ahead Good luck!!

Man, I am in a similar situation to you, though not nearly as big time. I am 39, 2 kids, stay at home wife, full time job as an HVAC engineer. I have the worlds most flexible job with good pay, and many people would say I'm insane to be pursuing a side gig. I made my LLC official November of 2022. This year I have just been taking vacation days and occasional weekend days to do my side work. I own my Yanmar VIO35 and my 68hp Deere tractor outright, and own my old 12v cummins with the two trailers outright. It helps a lot not having payments on anything, but it is still very stressful trying to balance it all. I may switch to 30 hours a week at my real job next summer and go from there, but once the momentum starts to build, it can get overwhelming. I have felt an increase in the momentum lately, and I am not really sure why, I love it, but it is also very intimidating.

I’m balls deep in equipment & studying for my earthwork & paving license & I feel stuck, every month I make payments & my real job pays for my equipment & whatever I make on the side is my saving money, typically $800 per weekend but since I don’t have my license I started doubting myself if I could do this without my license, I do have an LLC but became paranoid to work on my dream till I get my C12.. so since I let go of the gas pedal on the side jobs now I feel the financial pressure real bad & when I felt at my prime I proposed, she’s awesome helps me & is all for everything we’re doing but i am definitely at the point where I need that spiritual inner lift you know? The type that we could only find with God and in God but why can’t I just fully trust him & learn to leave my worries behind. So I’m at the point where I have all the right equipment to make it happen but feel stuck spiritually. New subscriber btw

I was at that crossroads in fall of 2021 as well. I was working as a mechanic, working for a buddy’s landscape company in the evening after work, going to college, and trying to start my excavation company at the same time. The landscape job went first, then the mechanic, and when the semester was over school went too. No regrets at all. I’ve established some roots and work seems to find me now and keep myself busy.

I’m a Highschool freshman who is taking college level classes. I am super interested in becoming a heavy machinery operator. My dad says I’m way too smart to start in a hole digging and he wants me to get a degree in something so I can make a lot of money quickly. I’ve been thinking about running a heavy machinery operating business like you do, I just don’t know what steps to take to be as efficient as possible! I live in Oregon right now and am 14. Also on the whole degree thing he means like construction management or something along those line.

You must have a CDL after buying the f450? I think you said your dump trailer was 14k and just a f350 dually is usually a gvwr of 14k. Even if your trailer and truck are empty and no where near weighing 26k DOT will nail you and shut you down because of the GVWR of the tags are higher than 26k. If you don't have a CDL please look into this! I read that you had insurance, so I would hope you're legal, because if you ended up over weight insurance will decline any claims and you can lose everything. Even if you weren't at fault, just registered incorrectly.

Yes you are correct, I sold my Dually and went back to a f350 srw and a 14k trailer for the time being. I do not have my cdl yet but I am fully legal operating.

Man it’s funny I ran across this video. I’ve not seen your channel come up with all the excavating videos I’ve pulled up and searched. I’m sitting here, just got home from the local equipment dealer thinking what should do. I got to an extreme stress level at my job a few months back. Sunday came around I went to the alter and begged God to help me. Show me a direction to go in to make money and have a good life doing something I enjoy and something that would be less stress. I’m a plc programmer and automation engineer. Robotics etc. before that I ran excavators, was a certified crane operator and a diesel mechanic. Now I’m stuck in a plant and have been for 14 years. I have a small backhoe and tractor and for years my therapy I called it was going out doing stuff with it. After that Sunday I met a friend and was talking and he said he could get me a discount on equipment if I was interested. I thought maybe that’s a sign. Well fast forward three months and I’ve talked to everyone I know and some I don’t know who own or run similar or same types of businesses and everybody says do it. I needed a bigger truck to do it but couldn’t find one and then one day I ran across one and it just happened everything was easy and financially it worked out great. Now I’m looking into buying a machine just because there’s a lot of mulching and mowing opportunities around and hard to find a rental excavator type machine close by. I’ve spoken with people and gotten jobs lined up but not promised but I have no machine. Long story short I’m sitting here praying for a sign to make sure I’m on the path God wants me on and I run across this video. Maybe coincidence maybe not. Looks like your doing well. Congratulations and God Bless

I’ve been looking for a used machine but it’s like buying a used Toyota. Just as well to buy new for the price of used. As far as rental a lot of what I’d be doing is clearing lots etc beside me the mulching and mowing. Most rental companies around here don’t rent bigger than around a 12k lb machine unless you get it from Carolina cat which is about an hour and a half east. The prices are ridiculous.

@MORE_DIRT
@MORE_DIRT Жыл бұрын
I personally take the hours it’s cost to rent and x3 the price For Instance if a machine cost me $500 a day to rent I divided by 8 (8 hour work day) Then take that number $62.50 then x3. That’s 187.50 an hour. $1500 a day for just the machine. Add material and labor accordingly.
