I have often wondered... Chris is so good at fixing pond dams better than they were.. I think if I had a pond to drain, especially when it's not really needed for anything profound, rather than siphons, I would have him just tear a channel in the dam. drain it completely, let it set several weeks then go in and dredge out the sludge. then he could repair the dam. And all that good silty soil could be spread on a field.

When I was a lineman, we were setting poles on islands near Cumberland islands so they would have electricity. As long as the tide was up we could work and set poles and run wire. We had to put what we called bog shoes on the poles so they didn’t sink. When the tide was out we would have to crawl . If we stood up we would sink. One guy sunk so bad we used a boat and rope to pull him out. I must admit the sand gnats or no see ens was the worst part of the job
