Late to the party here. Mark's playing is excellent. Wonderfully soulful! The D'Angelicos are stunning in looks & tone. Saving up my coins! I write, record & playing original Americana music (for lack of a better term.) But, I can easily hear the nomenclature of lyrics & music being "spoken" on this guitar. Great demo, folks! Thank you!

@@AdrianWhyte Very nice actually. Acoustically, it's nothing to write home about. I'm used to my Martin HD-28 steel string and Ramirez 4NE classical, and of course nothing in the jazz box range is going to sound anything like them. But I'm experimenting electrically with a Fishman acoustic amp and other amps/effects and I can say that this is a good instrument. Hoping that it opens up tonally over time but I consider it a grea addition to my collection.

So I got mine guitar and there is a very think piece of foam/tissue stuff between the bridge and the top. I presume it is there to protect the finish. But won’t it interfere with transmitting the sound to the top? I presume it is a floating bridge so if I slacken the strings to remove that piece of padding the bridge will move and I will lose my intonation which currently seems very good. How do I get that thing out?

Hi there! That piece of foam you're describing is there to protect the guitar from any scratches during shipping. Detuning your strings enough to slacken the strings may be your best option.

The two are very comparable in sound. We have a Throwback focused video on our channel that shows off the sound of both versions quite nicely.

Yes, it has a great acoustic sound as well! But definitely best utilized when amplified.

The standard Excel Style B has the more classic D'Angelico headstock shape! See link: dangelicoguitars.com/guitars/excel-series/excel-style-b/#DAESTYBSBKGT This is actually the Scroll Style Headstock which John D'Angelico used throughout his career, more notably in the later 50s and early 60s era. But you can see em on earlier ones from the 40s too!
