Thanks for watching! ERC definitely has more because it is not blocked by Isla Mujeres but they are both great. If you pick a good time of the year the beaches are fantastic but it is hit or miss as the ocean temps rise and we get more seaweed. Some weeks are sargassum free and some are crazy. They do work hard to clear it out all day long. What a job!

Great video, can you please tell me what was being remodeled at EPM at the time of your stay?

In November 2021, nothing was being reno'd (likely because it was too close to Christmas) but the management was telling us about some future plans. Currently, Las Olas and Spice are being remodeled at EPM. Flavor Market is being remodeled at ERC. Excellence has released that there will be several renovations being done over the next couple of years to be completed in 2024.

Groups? In comparison to the other? Also do you have any videos about VIM? You suggested that to me in a different video’s comments. I am wondering how VIM compares to these. Thank you Michael! I'm really glad you found it helpful. I don't think either resort attracts much differences in clientele. Sometimes EPM tends to draw a bit younger demographic but it does really depend on if any large groups are there or if there is a conference of some sort. We have all truly enjoyed both and we have a decent age spread between us. Activities team are excellent. Christian at ERC and Daniella at EPM are stand outs. As for VIM... I took covid lockdowns to learn a new skill -video editing, so although I have enjoyed VIM my pictures are not video worthy lol. I can tell you that we do really like VIM! It is a larger resort but not stupid large so walking around is not an issue. The beach is gorgeous and very long. It is a much less "couply" resort and simply just more adult. There would definitely be more groups of friends travelling at VIM than at either Excellence property. More of a party resort. For example, VIM does the foam party in the pool. The food is good. There was no coffee shop last I was there but I hear they may have one now or very soon. The piano bar has the BEST martinis! The imperial martini actually has dry ice in the bottom of the glass so it "smokes" out the top of the glass. Very cool! The Golden swim-outs are our favourite rooms because they are huge and have a good location. Staff and service is better at both Excellence properties. VIM has good staff but EPM and ERC deliver more personal service. I hope this helps a bit! - Nancy (New Travel Escapes Team)

Do you know if you can control the temperature of the plunge pool in the two story room? I would hate to pay for that room and then not be able to use the pool.

Unfortunately, no it is not climate controlled and not heated. People have been known to plan a time to use it and then have the resort staff hook up a type of hose to the outdoor shower and run some hot water from the shower into the rooftop pool but it is hit or miss.

excellence club junior sweet at ERC or just junior sweet at EPM? they come out to almost the same price.

Hmmmm....that's a tough one. I honestly enjoy both resorts. For me, it depends on what time of year I'm traveling and if the club benefits are a good fit. EPM has a better beach and less seaweed. Definitely relevant during the seaweed season. Both resorts have good restaurants. ERC is building a club restaurant, "Magna" but they are saying it won't be done until end of 2022. Club pools are heated. Usually just before Christmas but that is only relevant November and December. EPM is rated a bit higher overall on TripAdvisor. ERC club junior suite will likely be in building 9. Nice location but not ocean front. I honestly like both but I can go either way depending on the time of year and who I'm travelling with. Hope this helps a bit.

Are you able to smoke a cigar in both cigar lounges?

At the moment I don't believe you can smoke in any public place in Mexico. Designated smoking areas only. That being said, I assume there will be some permit that resorts will be able to buy for their cigar lounges because many have them. Or possibly their lounges will be designated a smoking area. I haven't seen it yet but I expect they will have to find some way around it but I haven't seen it yet. When we were at Valentin in May they turned their cigar lounge into a cognac lounge. We were at Hyatt Zilara last week and there was no smoking anywhere except a small area out front of the resort beside the entrance. I wouldn't count on it for now. (Maybe they will have it sorted before you go).

You didn’t mention this, but we are at ERC right now, January 2024 and it looks like there is quite a few teenagers that do not qualify as “adults” and both resorts are classified as adults only….

Really? They would have had to have their passport checked upon check-in so I would assume they are 18 but look younger? If the resort is actually letting teens in under 18 yrs then the alcohol liability alone will be a serious problem. I hope they just look young but if not - I don't even have words for how bad that would be for the resort.

@@newtravelescapes I hope u r correct. I’m gonna ask the resort staff tomorrow. I asked my wife what age she thought they were while considering that some may just look younger than their age. She thought one girl looked 16. We may be wrong will find out tomorrow and may have to delete this post.

@@newtravelescapes I asked today. They say that they check passports, and if they are lying or get caught, they send them to resorts like the finest where families are permitted…..she said it happens but rarely but that they send them definitely elsewhere….. that’s all I can tell you
