Excellence Riviera Cancun VS Excellence Playa Mujeres Review

Here’s my full review of the Excellence Riviera Cancun (an all inclusive resort) and how it compares to the Excellence Playa Mujeres. I have stayed at the Riveria and I was trying to decide between these two resorts. My fiance is a Chef so your rating of Mujeres and the food helped me decide to go there. Thanks! Super helpful! And we're from Austin too! The seaweed problem is due to the sea warming up more than normal which produces more seaweed. Not much they can do but nice that they try.

Honestly I can’t decide between the two. I have heard Playa Mujeres attracts bigger groups and RC has more couples. Is PM really worth the extra? I do love the size of the jacuzzi at PM compared to RC.

That's sargassum and yes it's the time of year and it's at EVERY resort along there.

It is call sargasso(seaweed) you can google it all Cancun, and playa del Carmen and riviera Maya were inundated sargasso (seaweed). Even Mexican official were worry the tourism was going to decline this year because of this issue. it was a big issue but they are trying to resolve it ..... Hopefully it will be fix by this summer...

Thanks Ariam. I just went back last week to Excellence Playa Mujeres. There was some seaweed there but not nearly as bad as in this video. I’ll have a new video coming out on that trip soon.

Yes. Actually just went back to Excellence Playa Mujeres two weeks ago. Seaweed is much more under control. Still some but nothing like in this video.

Great Video of Excellence Riviera. My wife and I visit both Excellence Riviera and Excellence Playa every year and enjoy both resorts. Question: How did you get your drone through customs at the airport? We are heading back to ERC in a few weeks and would like bring my drone but been told customs are not allowing them into country? Not sure what the rules are for drones in Mexico. Advice ? Thanks

No idea! They didn’t say anything about the drone. Had more of an issue with the resort TBH. This may have changed since we went in the spring.

ERC used to be great but they cater to parties now instead of couples romance. I want to relax not listen to a group of 20 and their boom box country music. Their pools and lazy river are hard to beat though.
