It was nice to visit. We just relaxed for a week. Normally we like to travel, but this was for a proper vacation. I can't believe it was just before we all locked down from travel!

I've been there 7 times..never disappointed. Coffee shop is new only a couple of years old. Great coffee and pastries. Fire show is a must..casino night is pretty cool. Funny Michael Jackson impersonators. Breakfast buffet is really good. No goofy wristbands just room confirmed at restaurants. Worth every penny!

Wow! 7 times is impressive. We met many people that go back again and again. We loved the coffee shop and yes, that Fire Show was ae3some! I like the idea of no wristbands as well. It really was a great vacation.

Loved your video. People should know it can be less expensive with a regular suite.. our cost was 1900.00 for 5 nights not including the flights but includes the airport transfer

Awesome video. Thank you. You mentioned in a previous comment that you didn't do the upcharged club room option. Was all the alcohol/wine standard in the room? Was rooftop pool heated or chilly? Wish I could have seen the bathrooms. Lol

I stayed in a two story rooftop as well and, it was amazing. I'm going to go all out this coming summer. I booked an Imperial Suite this time around and I'm super excited to experience that!! Nice video you two :)

Selina, were your neighbors loud on the 2nd floor? Do you really have total privacy up there?

@@GlobalAdventurer No one was loud when I was there. It's a laid back resort. Not for people who like to party hard. As for the privacy, it depends on how you define "total" privacy. I felt like no one was watching but, if some A'hole decides to stretch and try and look over to the next suite's rooftop then, it's not total privacy. They would have to go out of their way to do it though.

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, we booked at 2 story rooftop terrace pool view. Our reservation said "2 story, rooftop terrace, spa/pool view." We could see the spa from the side of our balcony, at 00:14 you can see the spa from our balcony.

We just returned from Excellence playa mujeres and LOVED it!! Looking to book again and was thinking of trying Riviera Cancun this time. Was the ocean swimmable during your stay? That's the only thing keeping me from booking it is all the reviews on how bad the seaweed is here. There was a good amount at Mujeres but we could still get in the ocean. Thanks for your feedback!!

Yes, when we were there seaweed was on the beach at the resorts around ours. They rake the seaweed here in front of the Excellence each mornings and do a great job, we didn't have it bad on the beach directly in front of the resort, but when we walked down the beach, there was a lot of seaweed. And it is in the water.

how was everything with restrictions and precautions? looks like you all still had a great time. I'm hesitant in booking because I'm not sure if we'd still have a good time!

This was actually filmed in March and we didn't post it until September because we had been sitting on it for awhile and thought that people might start traveling again. But we were just in Saint Lucia at a resort, and it was great with the restrictions. I am not sure what Mexico is doing at the moment, but if it is anything like Saint Lucia, it was good. This was just before COVID. Literally. We flew March 12, and then flew directly to Florida, to help move my parents home. A few days later, Ontario (our home in Canada) was in lock down. We waited to post this video until we thought that people might be starting to think about traveling in the near future again.

This was not an excellence club room option. Just the regular room. I understand it that they rooms themselves are the same, they are just in a different wing. They were off to the right of us, closer to the beach. We visited just before lockdown, so all the restaurants were open. Dress codes are pretty relaxed at smart casual. Is the excellence club worth it? What bar and restaurant would I miss out on?

We didn't stay at the Excellence Club and had an amazing trip. The pool to the Excellence Club is closer to the beach and they have a private heated pool. I'm not sure if they have different restaurants, but we had a lot to choose from. And booking our own room with a private pool felt like we had our own club experience as well. However, the rooms to the Excellence Club are closer to the beach and face the ocean while ours was a bit further back. We had ocean views though since we had the rooftop pool.

This is between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. It's about a 25 minute drive from Cancun's hotel zone.

Was shocked at the cost of this vacation. All amentites etc included. I have had FAB vaycays with soooo much at fraction of cost...No thanks lol. HOWEVER love Mexico and its people.

That also includes flights from Toronto and it is a luxury resort, but definitely not for everyone's budget. It all depends how much you want the extra perks for luxury amenities and service. We felt it was worth it as we went for Dave's birthday and wanted some pampering :). Cheers
