I don't think we have heard much in a while about Starlink for commercial airlines. That should be a no-brainer. Real-time information on airplane location, plus service for crew and passengers, what's not to like? Thanks for your reporting, Rob.

I agree however, customer service doesn't seem to be a high priority with Airlines.
@Urgelt Жыл бұрын
@@MarkS-23 it seems to me that the FAA ought to take a keen interest in mandating it, since knowing precisely where all commercial airplanes are at all times is a big step up for accident investigations. But it's the FAA. They seem to have a burr up their butt for all things SpaceX. I don't think Biden wants to do favors for Elon. Underlings might do things to annoy Elon even without explicit Biden orders to obstruct SpaceX, just because they can, and they know the boss won't chew them out if they do. Or perhaps not. For all I know, the FAA might already be working on a mandate, but kept it close-hold. All I really know is that it's quiet. Too quiet.

Did you hear starlink is a cybertruck option?
@Urgelt Жыл бұрын
@@donfields1234 heard it, yep. Not sure when it'll be ready. I also heard that Cybertruck may get a solar option - built-in panels with 'wings' that can be unfolded when the truck is halted. Good for maybe 20-30 miles of added range on a sunny day. Tesla has not given up trying to innovate in solar. I don't think they have a breakthrough product yet. Solar tiles didn't do the trick. Too hard to manufacture and install. Latest is a flexible ribbon panel, easier to make and install, possibly. Not yet a priced product. Solar remains Tesla's weakest product area. They haven't given up. Good.

I would not be surprised if Tesla could implement the new changes so quickly. For instance, the new dash and LED lighting - if this change does not require the assembly process and the tooling process for the body panels connected to the dash to retool the entire production line by dismantling old equipment and reinstalling new equipment (for assembly and new tooling), it may not be an issue. Other car manufacturers (Germans and Japanese) can produce different variants of a model on the same production line - as such, certain changes can be made quickly. Think of it this way, if for instance they widened the width between the wheels and lengthened the distance between the wheels for Project Highland (did they?) or gave the Model 3 a third motor - then you may need to have significant changes to the production line. I suspect if the Model Y changes are similar, GigaTexas can also change quickly.

With the ramp up of production in Berlin, and the Chinese economy still feeling weak, there may be a little excess capacity for the Y. Could explain the introduction of the Y RWD in North America, which is a smart thing to do.

Range not an issue. Charging definitely not an issue. Cobalt is not an issue because they are vetting their vendors. Stop spreading lies.😂
@Martin-se3ij Жыл бұрын
Range and charging may not BE an issue but they are SEEN to be. How many Superchargers do you SEE in your town. I SEE none in New York City, although Tesla's existing drivers will know there are some, but they are hidden from the population, out-of-sight in garages. So Charging/Range is still a perceived issue. In big cities where people live in apartments, home charging is not an option. I don't think Mr. Orwell is "spreading lies". Not until "T E S L A" chargers are SEEN as common as gas stations throughout the towns and country will the worry go away.@@ZeusBullyMax
@billdale1 Жыл бұрын
Like the man says, STOP SPREADING LIES. Teslas have range similar to ICE cars. Tesla already has supercharger stations located on highway off-ramps, strategically between cities, so that there is nowhere you want to go that is more than 100 miles from the next charging station, and they continue to install dozens of stations at a time to meet the coming demand as more and more Teslas are on the road. As for cobalt, Tesla has found rhat LFP cells require NO cobalt, are less expensive, and last longer. Tesla is shifting AWAY from cobalt and nickel. Commonly available materials like sodium and manganese are the focus.
