Mark King is 20 points behind with only the pink and black on the table. He can't snooker Barry because the black is over the pocket. However, after a few minutes of perseverance and excitement, Mark plays the dream shot ...and he just needs this frame to win the match and the title.
Barry Hawkins vs Mark King - 2016 Northern Ireland Open Final
Errata: the head to head between John Parrott and Ronnie O'Sullivan is 8-4 for Parrott and three 4-4 draws (not 11-4 as shown).
Statistics shown in the video correspond to the match date.
Cesar Muroya created his unique editing technique to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.
This format is not intended to be a substitute for the original unedited version, but being a supplementary alternative that seeks to meet the needs of some segments of snooker fans.

Fair play to king who won this tournament,I was very happy for him to finally win a ranking title and he did it.When you really think about it there's alot of very good players who retired without ever winning a tournament in their careers.

The pink ball is worth 6 points, the black one 7 points. The pink has to be scored OR being hit first, before black, otherwise it is a foul of seven points that are awarded to your opponent. The score is 65-45 if King had scored both, Hawkins would have won. King was trying to send the pink ball near the black one, in hope that he would not foul and that Hawkins would.

To be fair, the first three of Parrott's wins happened before O'Sullivan turned 18, and when Parrott was at the peak of his career. If you only look at the last eight games between them, it's 3-3, with two ties. Still surprising, maybe, but not an 8-4.

Oh and that dream shot definitely excellent shot. Imagine winning a world championship this way. Or imagine losing a world championship damn that's hard. Like Davis said that classic black he missed is generally believed to be a natural in off and he said he'd rather miss and lose, than lose the title by potting the black and going in off. What a game snooker can be sometimes ... June first is pretty close and ronnie is playing !! Didn't expect that.

You gotta feel for Barry Hawkins. He's such a good player but just struggles in finals. As someone who likes to watch snooker very casually, what is the aim of this frame here? I do not know a lot at all about snooker so was just wondering why this back and fourth went on? Hawkins has more points than King so why would he not win by potting the last two balls? I actually really want to know what is happening as this seems like it was be an excellent 'chess match' to understand. If anyone could inform, thank you! ps I wrote this before finishing the video.

Hawkins does want to pot the pink, but hasn't had an easy chance. King's plan is to drive Hawking to foul the black (7 points) and then pot both balls (13 points) to force a tiebreaker.

The issue is that Barry already has the lead, so to risk putting the pink near the black and potentially knock it in isn’t worth it - and it’s better for him to force Mark to play a delicate shot and likely lose the frame
