I think for modern players it's fine, but old games, not so much
@philipr15676 жыл бұрын
I like to see ratings. Not for every game, but for games of current players, and for games where there was a significant difference in rating between the players. When you are doing a series on a tournament or match there would be no need to show ratings except before round 1 and after the final round.

Leave ratings from the match, and also show the change accordingly, eg if rating was 2500 when match was played but now rating is 2600, then 2500(+100) will be awesome 😎

The "hat" Magnus is wearing is called "txapela" in basque language. The word for "champion" in basque is "txapeldun" meaning the "owner" of the hat. Competions of any kind are called "txapelketak" (playing for the hat) The model is a fishing boat (Very likely a "merluzera") to fish for cod. The basques have a great fishing tradition and are rumoured to have reached America before Columbus hunting for whales...

Love the channel! Another great analysis as usual here! One correction, Lombardi’s quote should read “Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing” I can’t blame you for that, he is constantly misquoted as having said what you have here. But the real quote makes far more sense logically. (Source: content.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2046390_2046393_2046512,00.html) Finally, your use of prophylactic is exactly in line with how it is typically used in the medical field (e.g. prophylactic low dose heparin to prevent deep vein thrombosis). It does have other uses, but your use here is entirely appropriate. This was something you brought up in a different video, I forgot to comment on it there, and then I forgot which video it was. Sorry that part was a little out of context.

#Suggestion Could you show a game between two female players? I seen your recent viewership survey and its disappointing we don't have more female followers (not your fault of course) . While the standard of the female game is not as high it could help inspire a few more followers to the game. I will keep an eye out for some excellent female games. Huge fan as always
@droceretik6 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, generally speaking, females don't have to demonstrate their intellectual superiority as much as men. Maybe men are motivated to demonstrate and prove thier intellectual prowess as a form of defense against insecurity. Perhaps they have "castration anxiety" which motivates them to prove their intelligence. Maybe women are sadled with too many domestic chores to afford the time to play chess. I don't know if men are actually intellectually superior in those attributes which make stronger chess players. May be i't because 90% of players are male and so it's natural that there are more male GM's. Perhaps the majority of players are boys and men because it's a social expectation of gender roles. I'm sure there must be studies to explain why there are so many male GM's compared to female GM's or such a high proportion of players are male. It could be the same reason most politicians and scientists are male.
@gusramirez56476 жыл бұрын
@@droceretik It would not surprise me if to a degree men did feel more compelled to compete than women, simply from a evolutionary standpoint. During early mankind, men would have to compete for mates, and females did not have to compete to the same degree. That being said, it would appear to be an arguable point that because the things that females look for in males is intelligence, there has been a selective breeding over thousands of years that would hone attributes of men, physical fitness, intelligence, pattern memory, pattern recognition and other things that would make for a good male partner. Conversely, because women have not had to traditionally had to compete for reproductive rights as men would, the most sought after traits would be physical attractiveness (maybe I'm not sure how much that would have affect early versions of man) but certainly fertility would be a major factor. Thus the argument could be made that men have been able to benefit from evolution to hone mental and physical skills, while women would not have benefited from this evolution quite as much. If this premise is true it would follow that its possible that the typical man would be better at chess than the typical woman would ( with obvious discrepancies at the extremes: notably intelligent women and notably dim men). here is an interesting study I found, that talks about a study to support this comment and some studies that you agree with that he critiques. en.chessbase.com/post/explaining-male-predominance-in-chess

THat does not make sense. More women watch men's football/soccer than women's. I wouldn't include a game between women just for the sake of it, unless there's a game of interest. Just saying, covering games should be based on merit and not political correctness.
