I’ve recently been yawning every few seconds (that’s not an exaggeration) i went the doctors and bought iron pills but nothing worked! I’ll put a star every time i yawn while writing this* but I’ve been doing exams recently so I’m starting to think it’s that * I’ve never yawned so much ever but it’s beginning to get annoying and kid of like an addiction bc it feels like it’s helping me breathe* I’m just going to start resisting it and not yawning!

that's exactly what has worked a lot for me, it is sort of a vicious cycle. Hope you're doing better now.

Missed the one I find most plausible. Yawning creates a chemical reaction in your brain that forces relaxation and a pleasant feeling. The feeling itself is very nice, but it's the social and mental perception that queues further anxiety. You say to yourself, "Oh no, I know I'm yawning because I'm nervous, and that's bad," which makes a person more anxious, and the brain, addicted to pleasant feeling, decides to throw another yawn in there. I find that healthy anger, directed in a positive manner to a useful outlet, is a pretty good fix most of the time. It forces the brain into a wakeful state, it "feels" empowering, and it can be directed to accomplish something. That combined with desensitization therapy. Get angry, dive into the thing that makes you nervous repeatedly, fix the cause of the anxiety while angry, and then once the solution is fixed, the anger isn't necessary and the anxiety isn't there anymore. And when the situation does pop up again, a feeling of power, aggression and mastery pops up, so the brain stops seeking the mini endorphin rush a yawn chemically gives you from the act of yawning.

I'm having an issue, I can't stop yawning all day and no matter how much I breathe in it still feels like I don't get enough air to continue walking. I've been really stressed as one of my closet suicidal online friend hasn't been online in almost a month and I think their dead, school is starting up, my mom hates me, I'm pretty sure all of my irl friends don't like me, everyone at the church I'm forced to go to think I'm "Sinful", I randomly started having emotional breakdowns when I'm alone where I can't do anything but cry and breathe very heavily, and my brother (the favorite child) has beat me to the point where I have bruises but if I just push him back or ask for a lock on my door I get yelled at.... I guess I'm just really stressed out... But I'm finding it hard to sleep and when I do sleep then I sleep too much, I just can't find the energy to do any of the things that I used to love, and I get headaches often, this is becoming too much to deal with, and I just want to curl up in a ball and never wake up

The epidemic of excessive yawning is many times due to excessive brain heat. This can be caused by a number of factors but it usually involves overly hot and long showers, too many blankets and too hot a sleeping environment, excessive exercise routines, over eating, over utilization of the brain in analytical mode, as well as constant bombardment from various frequencies in the air at all times in our environment. I also believe some food allergies can cause excessive brain heat. Solution: next time you are having an attack try ice packs on head and neck to cool the blood flowing to your brain, reduce frequency,duration, and temperature of showers , and make sleeping environment colder. Take off blankets and clothing when sleeping. Chill pads work wonders on the bed. Reduce over eating. Prolong showers in the morning until body temp normalizes from sleep. Use sauna and cold plunge to increase the bodies ability to deal with temperature extremes.

One long hot shower in the morning can put your brain on alert for more heat induced events further into your day, leading to anticipatory yawning, which is why some people do not make the correlation between hot showers and this problem.

Yawning is still one of my symptoms. Seems to be the last symptom to be hanging around lately. My amygdala hasn’t been searching for any other symptoms (watching for deeper breaths, fear of choking while eating) for the last few weeks. I yawn sporadically throughout the day occasionally, they’re not normal tired yawns either. They’re forced yawns it seems, then they just go away. I had all these symptoms months before I had my panic attacks. Seems to have been a slow buildup of these symptoms over a few months, and then I had my first panic attack on 7/31/21 at the age of 39. That panic attack led me to the ER, as I had thoughts of doom and that I was going to die. Throughout that week I then had multiple panic attacks. The adrenaline itself from the 10-15 minute panic attacks lasts around 1-2 hours for me personally, not fun at all. The Movies/TV do not portray a panic attack correctly at all, breathing into a brown paper bag and then being back to normal within minutes😂. Over time using CBT techniques (provided by Martin’s videos and an online therapist) and eventually hypnotherapy (sporadically, but more CBT therapies than hypnosis sessions personally. I figured it would be better to face the symptoms head on with CBT techniques more so than hypnosis. Not sure if I was correct by taking that approach) I’ve been panic attack free though since August 2021. It’s taken quite some time for me to get to only having yawning as my only anxiety symptom. It definitely takes time, but I’m doing much better currently.

Thanks for sharing Aaron. Regarding CBT v hypnotherapy you definitely did the right thing choosing CBT as your main approach. Hypnotherapy is ok as a supplement for CBT but on its own is not effective for most people.

How are you doing with the yawning part though?
@Sayurichyan

Mainly, it's the muscle pain in the throat and neck area and the headache caused by the repeated stretching from yawning that is making so much problem for me. Because after a while of yawning, my yawning muscles hurt and weakened, and that makes more problems because i can't finish the yawn and that triggers my gag reflex.

Hi Idk why I keep yawning Im not that old im 10 I think I might be going through puberty or something else. I frequently get scared if im going to die by just using google because google says yawning alot in less than a minute could me a medical condition. Idk if I should go to a doctor or if it is normal. I am very scared and I get execessive yawning randomly basically every day. I am very scared if i have a medical condition that needs to be treated. Please tell me what to do I am very scared I mean like very. Idk if its just puberty hitting me. Because im also not feeling to tired either. So if you would give me advice that would be very helpful I subscribed btw.

Yes, you can have anxiety at 10, it's not as much of an age thing also take into account that Google always puts the worst possible option no matter how rare it is. Puberty doesn't make you yawn a lot, so I would worry that that's what's causing this, although puberty isn't something you should be scared of as it's just a normal thing Also, just don't be scared, it's okay I'm sure you'll be okay. If you want to ask me anything or just wanna talk to get u through this then I'll try my best, (I am 13 so I won't know everything)
