Honestly, I forgot to say thank you. It was a video of yours that I saw in 2021 that helped me manage my panic attacks. I stopped avoiding triggers, and did my best to focus on just continuing on what I was doing. I also stopped breathing exercises and drinking tea to calm my panic attacks because they turned into safety behaviors. I also remember seeing in one of your old videos about how smiling relaxes the body and it definitely worked on my nocturnal panic attacks, although I may have looked ridiculous smiling by myself at 3am. These days, sometimes I would still get really anxious but it’s not as bad as before and almost no panic attacks too. Thank you so so much.

Thats great to hear. Now that I have been making videos for a few years I am starting to hear about good results from viewers which makes it all worthwhile. Not everyone will apply what I teach in my videos but those who do are finding that it works and in time they are seeing big reductions in their anxiety and even panic attacks stopping completely. Keep doing what you are doing and the anxiety will continue to reduce.

I have had a panic attack up to twice a day for a month, when I get them I get them something in my stomach is bloated, I get back pain (lower), my heart rate goes crazy and I often get sick from them. Thanks for the video, I will do everything I can to change things. I had them for over a year in total, started with school stress having presentation, and then truma started hitting. I will start today.

Absolutely brilliant in providing detail on how after the first attack we are setup for others and how what we think is helping us, by avoiding, difficult events we are in-prisoned by this disease. Probably one of the best videos I have seen on this topic and more importantly a straight forward, but very difficult, plan to address it by removing a behavior each month. Thank you Martin!

Thank you Martin for amazing video. I have panic attacks usually only after 7 pm. My first panic attack occurred on small does of Cocaine almost 2 months ago. I was paralyzed from fear for 2 hours thinking I am having heart attack. Since that day I have severe anxiety everyday. I wake up with huge dizziness, pressure in my chest (left boob) or in my head. Even small sound like car doors closing in distance scares me because I am so tense. There is no trigger for my anxiety. I just wake up with it every day. Around 7-8 pm I feel derealization or like my part of brain goes numb and it causes my panic. I wake up, play my games and try not to walk too much because I am so dizzy, later I go to swimming pool and I can control my anxiety. Then, out of nowhere my heart starts to pound so fast and derealization begins. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks you.

Sorry to hear of your struggles. What you describe is very common in the development of panic disorder. Although cocaine was the initial trigger it is now the fear of the panic attack that is triggering more panic attacks. The more you fear it, the more your safety behaviours and avoidance increases and that increases the frequency of the panic attacks. The mind has to be retrained to teach it that panic attacks are not dangerous. Once it learns that the panic attacks will stop. The video gives you the tools and the process to do that. Unfortunately its not easy and takes a lot of time and patience.

Great and comprehensive video! Very systematic too. It filled some gaps I still had, for example the role of the hippocampus and how it learns through behavior. It has shifted my mindset from suffering through anxiety and panic hoping for it to pass soon to committing to show my hippocampus through my behavior that everything's fine and giving it time to follow - because after all it's a slow learner. It ties in with the concept of the inner child and how we take on the role of the loving and supportive parent (that so many of us dealing with anxiety unfortunetaly never had). Also loved the humor sprinkled in, the tiger roar and the hippo! 😂 There's no better cure for anxiety and panic than humor. Besides self-love. But humor is important too 😄 Thank you very much this guide!

I'm nearly 50 but have had panic attacks since I was 13. I'd got them quite well under control but then had my worst ever panic attack on the motorway, whilst I was driving with my family in the car. I stopped going on them and then it was A roads and now I can only drive on my local roads. I've tried CBT, the Havening technique and hypnotherapy. I've taken it slowly and started building up to going on them but every time I try I have a panic attack and my mind just can't get over the fact that having a panic attack whilst driving is really dangerous. It's made my world so small and I don't know what else to try.

Go with your friends and don't drive just experience the highway, Keep a clonazepam tablet in your pocket and use it if you feel your panic attack is out of control. Just keeping a tablet in pocket which is scientifically proven to stop panic attacks can help you a lot mentally. This way you keep the cure in your pocket and I am almost certain you will rarely need it.

@@PiyushBhatnagarFitness I don't have benzo where I'm from. And I can't relax with certain people and feeling out of control because they are driving and I'm not. I did a short ten mile drive last night but I needed liquid courage to help. And that beats the point, like I need to feel the anxiety, work through it. Not be drunk and take a drive. Though it helped because I was naturally giggling. I just thought I'd I show my mind hey you had fun last time, the next time will be good!!

This is a great video. I do use blood pressure cuff and a pulse ox but I have a heart condition, liver disease, my ammonia levels are carefully monitored because my liver can’t process it. I have period paralysis, . a mitochondrial disease. Take away my ability to monitor my heart and oxygen levels would really caused me to panic even more.

Can this help if someone is in the process of tapering off of a prescribed benzodiazapine that is the reason for getting panic attacks. I never had panic attacks before. And I was prescribed the benzo for sleep. Not anxiety. And it turns out the reason I couldn’t sleep was because I drank coffee in the evenings!

The first panic attack can be triggered by many things (including smoking marijuana) and is such a scary experience, in some it creates a fear of more panic attacks. That fear actually causes more panic attacks and can lead to the development of Panic Disorder.
