Right - we are always looking for comfort. But it's a vicious cycle. You are right. I need to learn how to do this - stop the reassurance seeking.

Thanks, I just had a root canal done 4 days ago and everyone on the Internet says pain should subside after 2-3 days but I still have some very slight dull pain. Went back to the endo and he said it’s just the bone healing from infection and I shouldn’t be worried. Of course I still end up googling for hours and asking chatgpt for reassurance. It’s so exhausting especially when it’s tied to a real medical issue.

Bizarrely when I got a 48 hr holter I never felt anything. When I get a cold or flu I never worry about my heart because in those times I’m not focused on it.

Same! Did an echocardiogram and found Minor mitral valve prolapse but the holter monitor didn’t show anything.

Great video, I got Covid & on Day 18 & was realising that I was checking a lot for reassurance because I had developed a cold, I'm training in REBT even though I have an anxiety disorder & have worked in mental health services.

I did have some mild anxiety problems and when I trained in counselling and CBt it really helped me and others. I no longer practice but started this channel so what I learned does not go to waste.

Hi, After having panic attacks I get light headed and dizzy. Please suggest some remedies. The very notification from ur channel is reassuring 🙂
@TheAnxietyAttic
@TheAnxietyAttic 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there is no remedy for the symptoms of a panic attack because they are the body's response to perceived danger. Trying to relieve or stop the symptoms just makes the panic attacks worse. The solution has to be to change the behaviours that cause the panic attacks. This is explained in my panic attack series. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGLJoWx-gaekp6s

@@TheAnxietyAttic Thank you! If you can let us know if there are foods that trigger Panic attacks
@TheAnxietyAttic

I am not aware of any foods that trigger panic attacks but a belief that a food can trigger a panic attack could trigger a panic attack. Anything that you avoid will become a potential panic attack trigger in the future.

I recently had a migraine with aura where the left side of my face went numb and my left hand felt numb. I had pins and needles and I felt like I was having a mini stroke. I called an ambulance and went up A&E and got checked. Had an ECG, Blood Test and everything was normal. I had physical exercises and everything was normal also. However, since they didn’t do a CT scan or MRI scan, I am still thinking they missed something. For the last 15 days, my anxiety has been through the roof. I suffer from brain fog, depersonalisation, dizziness, light headedness. The consultant who checked me did not believe a scan was necessary and now it worries me. I have googled silly things like the aftermath of a stroke and convinced my brain I have suffered a mini stroke. I believe in my mind that another one is coming and it is going to kill me. It’s impacting me when I go out. I go for a walk and feel dizzy all the time, like I am going to fall over. It impacts my concentration and coordination. It is like my brain is displaying brain damage even though I am ok. Well I hope I am ok. How do I beat this? I requested a brain scan with the consultant for reassurance. 😢

I'm riddled with anxiety 24 7 daily for 11 years I did cbt for a month it didn't help.. I'm guessing I need to do it much longer ..
@TheAnxietyAttic
@TheAnxietyAttic Жыл бұрын
When you have had anxiety for a long time CBT does take a while. The minimum for CBT is usually 6-8 sessions but some people need a lot longer. CBT is the most effective treatment for anxiety disorders but it can be quite tough so it is quite common for people to drop out in the early stages. If you apply the principles and do the homework you will usually start noticing small changes in 2 to 3 months. Once you get how it works you should then see improvements over the next year but there will be setbacks and you have to apply CBT principles for the rest of your life. I still occasionally use CBT now for anxiety issues I had 30 years ago but anxiety very very rarely causes me a problem thanks to CBT.

How can I apply this with a painful physical symptom?
@TheAnxietyAttic
@TheAnxietyAttic Жыл бұрын
If you have a painful physical symptom which has been confirmed as not serious then reassurance seeking behaviours will increase the anxiety about the symptom. If the symptom is actually caused by anxiety or exacerbated by anxiety then reassurance seeking can even make the symptom worse. I will be releasing a video soon about my own experience with some painful health problems. One I managed with reassurance seeking and one I managed without reassurance seeking.
