This one seemed extremely obvious so I wonder if some of the contestants placed higher emphasis on the 'excite' part, since if you were trying only to increase his heartrate it is objectively best, and blindingly obvious, to go with extremely strenuous cardio, since the body has literally no choice but to raise it's heartrate it's a 100% guaranteed bet. Probably the only other things that can get close are *actual* torture, horrifying fear, and hard stimulants too I guess. If they'd have pushed him to his physical exhaustion point it's quite possible we could have seen a peak of 200 which for healthy males is fairly often achievable
@lebowskii98_9 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you but have to add that a max heart rate of 200+ for someone Alex's age would be rare. It would be normal for a healthy person in their teens and twenties. ✌
@dp-g5i Жыл бұрын
For the average person, their maximum heart rate is 220 minus their age. It's unlikely that it would have been 200.

How cold does the UK get, on average? Alex is wearing thermal trousers underneath his regular trousers, and I'm wondering if it gets cold enough in the UK to warrant them, or if he's wearing them as an additional layer of protection from getting covered in crud.

It's obviously above 0, so it's not warranted.

@WitchLunaEstrella Жыл бұрын
It depends on the season and how far north you are, but thermal trousers are pretty atypical in most places (except perhaps the north of Scotland but idk for sure, I've never been there). Taskmaster is filmed in London, where the average temperatures in winter tend to be about 4 to 9 degrees Celsius (39 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit).It can get fairly cold, but we're also used to it being cold so it's rare that we need that many layers. Or maybe most people just haven't thought to wear them despite it being a good idea, I'm not sure.

Now I have a reliable way of monitoring my pulse, I am SO jealous of Alex having a pulse of 63 whilst standing up 😭 mine only goes that low when I sleep. The lowest it goes while standing is 130, then I have to lay down after a few minutes to stand a chance of getting it back under 100. (Yes, probably POTS for anyone thinking that.)

When I watched this for the first time, my first thought was to take Alex's heart rate monitor off, put it on myself, and just intensely exercise for the entire time to get a high heart rate reading. If they put me in there, they’d be genuinely concerned for my health. I have high testosterone, not in a “arrgghh I’m so manly” way, like medically my test is high, so when I do intense physical exercise, my heart rate can easily break 200. The most concerned I ever was was when I reached 220 and felt completely fine, actually it felt great.
