The Atacama NeXXus Essential Speaker stands will be available in April 2021 in 600mm sizes and Atacama are planning to have the whole NeXXus range of products available by the end of the summer 2021. I was very lucky to get my hands on an early production set to use now. I know this video is not at my usual standard for picture and sound quality, I hope you can still enjoy it and get something out of it. Thanks

Cheers Terry. Yeah, speaker stands are often overlooked, but are very important. And yeah, get them filled. A lot of people have bags of sand/shingle etc in their sheds, so put that stuff to good use! :)

Excellent review Terry! I have the older Atacama Nexus where the two thinner tubes could not be filled and therefore ring, so looking forward to upgrading to the Nexxus and filling them with Atabites.

Very informative and helpful video Terry. This has really help make up my mind on what stands to go for. I have a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 100's that are 10Kg each so the stands will have to be pretty sturdy and capable. I was always going for Atacama stands but it will certainly now be these new Nexxus ones. Thanks.

I used lead shot in my speaker stands. Wasn't cheap, but can't easily be beaten for mass. OK, Tungsten or Uranium would have higher density but I can't afford them. All the best, Rob

Or gold (19,5 g/cm³), or platinum (21 g/cm³), also very expensive and difficult to purchase... 3 L of gold granules = 58,5 kg... 😊

Nice video and speaker stands are a vital part of a stereo system. In 2020 I built speaker stands and filled the legs with dry sand. I might have gone over-board as each stand weighs 42kg. Takes a lot of effort to move them but once in place no need to move them. I am building a smaller version soon to raise my subwoofers. Keep up the great content, cheers.

I see you’ve got Gaia isolaters. I just put sorbothane isolate it rings around the blunted spikes on my floorstanders, two per spike to get them completely off the ground. Could use one without the spikes. The Canton Vento Reference 7’s sound much clearer and open in every regard. My floors are wood, covered with cork and then wood textured tile with an area carpet. This made a bigger difference than going from solid state to a tube integrated. Always enjoy your channel and take on hifi.

The ProAc Tablette family of speakers seem to work best on open frames. They can't be the only £800 - 2k speakers that prefer less mass in their stands. An additional open stand test would make any group test cover all posibilities for best performance.

I’ve had the Atacama SL600 speaker stands which have 4 columns per side, I’ve been very happy with them. I purchased 4 tubs of the atabites to fill the stand 2/3 as recommended by the manufacturer, who claim that filling to the top over dampens the speaker. But I guess it depends on the speaker and personal preference to fine tune the resonance of the stands
@marcoserafino835
@marcoserafino835 2 жыл бұрын
I instead filled my Nexus 6i just half of both columns, I tried various fills, entirely, for 2/3, but it seems that for my configuration half satisfies me more. one thing I don't like is putting the rubber pads on them, I like the diffuser coupled directly on the plate more. ps I also use Atacama Atabites filler!
@shahidyt
@shahidyt 2 жыл бұрын
@@marcoserafino835 good to hear that you fine tweaked the fill of your stands. One thing I’d like to do is experiment with different types of material between the top plate of the stand and the speaker, possibly try the IsoAccustics pucks to see it they make a big difference
@marcoserafino835
@marcoserafino835 2 жыл бұрын
@@shahidyt But I believe (my thought) that it is better to PAIR and UNCUPLE. so if a diffuser through the stands is already decoupled from the floor by means of special spikes it is good to couple the diffuser to the upper plate, otherwise you could try the reverse: coupled to the ground without spikes and uncoupled above.

Thanks Terry i been looking at stands here lately , i have Always used wood because theirs no ringing ! BUTT these you are reviewing are going to have more weight to them i like that ! I have carpets so spikes are a i have 2 for me, i use to use real wood cutting boards to set my stands on top of in my nearfield music room but i didn't like the look , I may try a set of these out ! I like my cherry wood stands they match my lsim 703 a speaker vert well . i would have loved to seen you review the 703 their 32-pounds each with the Mt Vernon cherry edtion real venners and 3way , adorama still sales them they have the fullest lowend i have ever expierenced with a standmount thanks Terry !

Hey there, thanks for the video. If I plan to get a larger top plate, which will make the standard one unused, hence eligible to be installed under the base plate. Question is if you know if the optional mass loading base plate can also fit underneath the bottom plate, in addition to the top standard plate. So to recap top standard plate + optional mass loading base plate, both underneath the stands base, can it work? Much appreciated!
@PursuitPerfectSystem
@PursuitPerfectSystem 3 жыл бұрын
I think best to ask Atacama this question - however I think there are ways you could use the smaller top plater maybe even to add an extra layer of isolation to the top plate with something in between like bluetac or sorbothane or something

I had the top end Atacama, but if you have the money, Track Audio stands will kill the Atacama. It's just they are expensive, and have basically doubled in price since I purchased mine 10 years ago. But if you are into standmount speakers in a serious way you should spend that next upgrade money on Track Audio 600 stands.

These look like nice stands, however I'm concerned that the base isn't big enough for Arendal 1723 Monitors, which would require a base at least as big as the speaker for good balance. So about 10.82" Wide X 15.74" deep. If these don't fit correctly, what do you recommend? Arendal's website shows stands that they made for the 1723 monitors, but they are listed as "Legacy" and there is no "Buy Now" option listed, so I'm assuming they are discontinued?
@PursuitPerfectSystem
@PursuitPerfectSystem 2 жыл бұрын
I used the stands with the 1723 and it was ok but they were very big on them, I think stands with 4 legs would be better for very large speakers like the Arendal

Most speaker stands are sold with a top-plate smaller than the speaker (Klipsch RP600M) so is it risky if the speaker sticks out an inch or so beyond the top-plate? There are no children here to bump into the speakers!
