Once upon a time, I would go to my sister's house 50 hours a week to help her first child with autism. He is about to graduate from college and drives a car when he wasn't talking when I first started doing Pivotal Response Treatment and Multiple Cue Responsivity therapy for him. His younger brother was one, while he was three. They were both very big for their age, but whenever DTT therapists were working with the older brother I'd play and learn what the youngest could do so I'd know what to teach, like arguing for what you want, asking question (a pivotal behavior), and so on and so forth. Well, obviously as an uncle I interacted with both of them a lot as it was just those two boys, my mom (grandma) and I. Anyway, I'd get to the house and the one year old or when he was two and three even he'd run to me and leap with knees up and straight into my ribs and gut. Sometimes it was a hell of a hit, but I never complained about it as it was so fun to see his utter excitement over seeing me for the first time in the day. Lots of times it was when I was coming back from the playground with his older brother who got up much earlier than him in the morning. There came a time when the knees were no longer going into my gut. I remember wishing for him to do it anyway, even though he was bigger.

My parents were able to see their grandchildren after almost a year and a half. They saw them in January 2020. Then Covid happened and they didn't see them till June 2021 after they got their vaccines. We live across the country. They even did their own version of surprise homecoming. The kids were completely surprised when the car pulled up and out popped Grandpa and Grandma.
