Thank you for sharing about your anxiety. Knitting helps me so much with my mental health issues. I knit 5-6 hours a day, and I'm so grateful that I am in a position to do that. Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself

I’m glad to hear that knitting is helping you as well ☺️ and I’m always going to share because we need better and more honest representation! and for people to feel seen and know that it will be okay!

For those who have 2nd sock syndrome. In the The Knitter Magazine - Issue 182. Knit only one long tube, long enough for two sock lengths. Place stitches on waste yarn for the cuff at the beginning, after-thought heels, toes and finishing with the 2nd cuff. If you would like the pattern. Contact me.

It's encouraging to see that I'm not the only one with a million projects! I have the Book Club cardigan to finish, a test knit for Teti Lutsak, a jumper for my mum, and I'm doing a mini Heirloom Quilt cardigan KAL with my friend. I also have to spin up my third yarn for the Tessellated cardigan, I just started spinning recently and thought this might be a good project to include some handspun in, but it is adding a lot of extra time!
@marleneknitsАй бұрын
wow that’s a lot of wonderful projects, I love it! 🥰 it is a perfect project for handspun for sure (wish I had spun for it.. next time!) and thank you for joining the membership 🧡

@@marleneknitsIt really is a perfect handspun project, particularly as I think the pattern will hide the slight uneven-ness of my beginner spinning! I'm excited to see the future of your channel and the membership.

I love the “rainbow sprinkles” socks ✨. I guess I’m biased as I was literally turning the heel on my Hermione’s everyday socks while watching 😊. I appreciate how you integrate talking about your mental health. I hope you take care of yourself and it’s good to hear that you are well supported by your friends and found something new that brings you joy (referring to Stardew Valley). 💛

Congratulations on launching your membership! I was really pleased to be able to shop your affiliate link for the most recent Coast to Coast release, but this sounds like a great way to support you, while also building community ♥️. I’m planning on knitting a stripe hype with my patchwork collection yarn, which is sort of inspired by your latest version as I really like how you used three colours for your stripes. I’ve never purchased their yarn before, but as someone who likes to quilt and sew I just couldn’t get this collection out of my head. Your most recent finished knits are beautiful, and your framed sweater with your hand spun is gorgeous! I also agree with your thoughts on your new doppio swatch and I’m into the idea of you using trench coat. Can’t want to see how it turns out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Rings of Power show. My partner and I really enjoy LOTRs and we’ve been talking about watching, but have heard such mixed reviews online and don’t know anyone that has watched.

Hi Marlene - great video 😀 i frogged my sons Northland sweater in Alaska - the one i copied from you 😉 the yarn was very wobbly and I could not knit very even I thought. But I could not be bothered to steam it 😂 so I made a swatch test and washed it and it was perfect and so I just tried and the sweater turned out beautifully ❤ I knit socks in the same way and I feel I am cheating and beating the second sock syndrome 😅 have a nice weekend ❤
@mettebossowАй бұрын
And ps i have the same experience - way too much in my brain - then I cannot knit or read which are usually my coping strategies. Hope you get better soon❤

Super interesting what you mentioned about Rings of Power. There were so many small things which irked me about the first season that I decided to not even watch season 2, even though I had been looking forward to the show for years. Please mention again if your current opinion holds up when you watched a few more episodes, I need some more motivation to spend money on the Prime Video membership 😅
@marleneknitsАй бұрын
I will definitely mention it again! thanks for commenting your thoughts on it! I was definitely a harsh critic of the first season myself and the second also definitely has its more enjoyable parts and then some „rolling my eyes“ parts as well but as a lotr fan I couldn’t have missed watching it! you could subscribe to prime for a month, watch all of it and delete it again? ☺️ will report back on how the season continues!

If you and your partner enjoy Tolkien, have you tried watching Exploring The Lord of the Rings KZbin podcast, by Corey Olsen? It's amazing, and perfect to watch while knitting. He also does Rings and Realms, discussing the Rings of Power show. I've found that his analysis makes the show deeper and more interesting, as I am not a Tolkien expert.

Hi, Marlene! Love the idea of creating subscriptions/membership for all the content you giving us on the regular basis (we are so thankful for that!) One thing of criticism: usage of AI. It's unethical and damaging in so many ways and it would so good to just get rid of it entirely. For other side loved to see you working with a designer and the emojis looks adorable!
@marleneknitsАй бұрын
hi Tonya, thank you so much for your comment! I took some time to think about it and want to agree that AI can be used in some extremely damaging and unethical ways especially in media (something we talked about quite a bit during my media studies programm at university but probably has changed for the worse since then/ has gotten more dangerous because pictures/videos have gotten more convincing etc - this is also a point my designer friend raised when we talked about the issue after the fact!) plus the usage of original art to train or „feed“ the algorithm obviously is a huge problem, I get that! I didn’t think it would be ab issue since the logos/badges are so small and I couldn’t see a reason why me generating colorful quilt motifs would be harmful to anyone - I am trying to find a longterm/ more ethical solution currently and hope to find something custom that’s fun & „handmade“ just like our knits and crochet items 🧶
