I just finished my book club cardigan. I put four buttons on it, and when I tried it on thought the top most button didn’t look right. It just looked way too high buttoned and unbuttoned so I ended up removing it. Now, I just have three buttons and a secret unused button hole.😅

A friendship sweater is so cute!!! What an amazing idea! And I love the Lana vest, can't wait to see it when it's ready, and maybe you could give some tips about how to style it? I'm not a vest person, but I love the look of the Lana vest, so I would love some inspiration. Have you read 'The power of knitting'? I found it amazing!

ahh thank you ☺️ I will, that’s a nice idea! not yet but thanks for the recommendation 😌

I read A Stash of One's Own last year, and honestly didn't like it. Much of it was flippant if not encouraging consumerism and capitalism. It's fine to have hobbies and have things for inspiration- but there were too many stories of people not seeing an issues with having SABLEs (Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy). Having so much yarn that will inevitably end up in a landfill isn't aspirational or inspirational to me. Your value as a person and who you are is not based on the things you own. I guess a lot of the stories were just disappointing in that way for me.

I totally get where you’re coming from but I did enjoy the emotional stories people told about what a stash did for them in times of change, pain and grief!

It’s taken me a while but I’ve really enjoyed watching this episode during breaks at work whilst knitting a pair of socks for my sister that I’ll gift her for Christmas. After seeing the comments from other people I’m definitely going to try the Lantern Moon cables as I have a mixture of Knit Pro and Chiagoo needles. To have some metal cables for my wooden Knit Pro needles sounds good to me. 🧶

Do you have a recommendation for cables that are compatible with the addi click needles? I seem to have the same issue you described for the knit pro needles - tausend dank von einer deutschen Followerin!
@marleneknits8 күн бұрын
hi! unfortunately I have no experiences with this needle system at all - but it would be worth it to try and see wether they would be compatible with the lantern moon cables as well? ☺️

Lovely video - thank you! The acorns are adorable and I’m going to make some next year for fall decorations. We are surrounded by oak trees and enjoy watching the deer come into the yard to eat the acorns each fall at dusk. I’m planning some hot water bottles and mini hat, sweater and sock ornaments this Christmas season. I feel like I’ve mastered knitting in the round this year (lots of socks) and want to make some fun ornaments.

Hello Marlene, Thank you for another episode, I follow you feom the beginning and love to see how your knitting had grown. Also to see you so happy with your work and friends now. I knitted the Lunenburg pullover too, be aware that in the pattern are no shoer rows, I still regret that I didn't made them myself. Karen

hi Karen! thanks for your kind words and the heads up! I’ll probably add some under the colorwork before the sleeve split then :)

I always find interesting what we call similar things in different languages. German Franzbrötchen seems quite similar to what we call in czech švýcarka, which has also a land in name Švýcarsko, Switzerland.

Gah I have so much hair envy every time I watch your podcast. Lovely episode as always. I agree on KnitPro cables but the new spin ones are alright. Also the Drops cables are compatible and nice I find. But yeah, not much beats Chiaogoos. I've been working on gift knits at the moment. I made a striped pup sweater (stephen west) and working on some more Penny Gloves right now. Then it's on to hats and a Pimpom shawl.

I have several sets of knitpicks needles and at this point the swivel lantern moon cords are the ONLY cords I use. I love them so much. To me they feel exactly like the ChiaoGoo cords. I also love that they come with the beautiful wooden end stoppers (not sure what they're actually called) and the wooden cord tightener. I just feel like they elevate my knitting at a much more affordable price point.

hello marlene, about your pullover with sleeves that are (or are not) too short. I was in the same situation and I knitted some fingerless mitts with a very long cuff, I think you can also call them armwarmers. I use them when going out of the house, but for in the house the shorter sleeves are so comfortable. good luck with all your projects! greetings from belgium.

Really love you showing more unknown smaller German dyers. The way it’s dyed reminds me a lot of Telling yarns movie and book based coloured yarns which I really love but obv with brexit are quite a hurdle to get. So really nice to see that there are more accessible local options out there.

With Rings of Power, I basically treat it like fanfiction -- just another way to play in the world/universe that Tolkien created. 😂Like you said, if you're a Tolkien purist, you may want to skip it, but if you just love the world, then you'll have a good time. Loved your Rhinebeck videos and eager to see how your wips turn out!

I enjoy watching your videos, Marlene. Happy to hear that you had a great time at Rhinebeck! I feel inspired by your making and it motivates me to keep carrying on in my making as well. I’m currently knitting the Darling cardigan by Kutovakika in combo of fingering wool and mohair yarn from stash but it’s in black and triple stranded, lol. I’m def getting through it because I know I will wear it a lot once it’s finished, just in time for the colder months. Thank you for sending us, US folks, some love in these scary times. I felt the swell of emotions, ngl. Not in a bad way, but just knowing that people out in the world care, to me, it means a lot. 🩷

As a New York native, I grew up 30 minutes away from Rhinebeck and the fairgrounds, I didn’t realize that the Wool festival was so popular! I haven’t been since I was in high school and it was so much smaller back then. It was so wild to see so many places I recognize and have been to so many times in my life. It was so unreal to watch you come off the Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge and know I would be going across myself soon. Also, Samuel’s Sweets is such a staple and right down the way from there is the cutest art shop I’ve ever had the pleasure of frequenting. It seems like you had so much fun here!
