Tri is wary of the timed mechanics, the difference between this and dailies in MMOs is that all the time gated stuff is based on resources you have; you can only set a dude to make bars if you have the ores, whereas with dailies you always have them every day. I think it's not a problem because you can set shit to cook and have it cook for as long as you have the materials, and if you didn't play enough to get resources, then it's no longer a daily task. You just set shit to cook at the end of your play session.

There are a few other reasons why this isn’t as bad as mobile stuff either. One thing is that in mobile games, nearly everything is time gated, so you run out of stuff to do and then wait. But with this, you still have base PoE. Also, mobile games usually have excessive time gating specifically to incentivize you to spend premium and reduce that time gating. PoE has no pay to win though, so time gating is much less likely to be artificially inflated. It will probably be kept to a much more reasonable level.

To me, having watched, and rewatched, and watched again (and again) the reveal, and as many reacts as I can find... my opinion is that it really feels like they have a TON of things in PoE2 that they are planning on introducing (or stuff that worked really well in PoE1 they have been messing with so they can re-add), and they need a way to test players' opinions and thoughts about all of it. So, they are throwing all of it at the wall to see what sticks. Personally, it all looks really well done, though, and I think at least 85% will be wildly successful and loved.

They need to test the currency market since its going to be in poe 2. They can't test it in the office because they are not enough people. So the best place to test it is in a poe 1 league before the Clsoed beta (Early Access) starts in november/december. Important to check if they need to balance it or if it breaks in some way. Like they said, if it works and don't need any changes they can add it permanently to poe 1. Same with respec for gold. When it comes to respec, they should just allow you to do it with gold and regrets. Good to have both

I'm no hardcore pro, but I played it exclusively for a long time, and have some modest accomplishments in the mode. I stick to SC mostly (once in a while I still dip my toes into HC) since I have less time to play these days, and Comcast is garbage. If I can offer a few pieces of advice for your hardcore run: Set rules for yourself. Things like specific map mods you that you will not run (e.g. block is a primary defensive layer and the map has less block chance), a limit on the number of damage modifiers (e.g. two damage mods or less), or certain combinations of modifiers (e.g. -max res + phys as extra ele). This could extend to certain league content like Ultimatum, Expedition, altars, or anything where you have to opt in to additional difficult for additional rewards. Generally, pay attention to mod synergies or mods that are particularly troublesome for your build. You can always re-evaluate these rules as your character gets stronger, but don't fly by the seat of your pants with bending the rules. Take your time and think about it before you decide to trim away any of these rules. Don't blindly click on every piece of league content or engage with everything indiscriminately. This ties in to the above point a bit, but if you're setting rules that are a little more contextual is also very helpful. If you're running a map that's pushing the limits of your character's capabilities, and you're confident you can do it, but there are certain opt in engagements that might push it over the limit. Planning to skip some specific content that you know will be rough in that map is okay. Speaking of skipping content: don't be afraid to do it. Yeah, you want to push the limits here and there, but do it in a calculated fashion, after you've made some major upgrades and considered the risks carefully. It's okay to walk past that ghosted eight essence monster on a map that has three enemy defensive mods. Set progression benchmarks before attempting certain content. You might want to get a particular unique item, reach a certain amount of maximum life, switch to a cluster jewel setup, cap resistances, or any number of things before you attempt some type of content. This could be fighting a specific boss, progressing to red maps, moving to the next act in the campaign, or any number of things. Take your time and farm a bit before moving on. Good luck; I bet you'll have a blast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't phys taken as still an eldritch implicit on helms? I don't recall them stating that specific source was removed.

I don’t think time gating will be too painful in this league mechanic, as there are a couple massive problems that it has in mobile games that it won’t here. For HC those guys give you tips on using defensive auras and being careful. Having looked at your build, the proper tip is: Use more than a single alchemy orb to craft your gear. Truly, your belt was the worst craft I ever seen anyone do on an expensive base. If your items have 6 real mods instead of 2, you have more defenses and more damage. Don't take it as an insult, but your belt was horrible. They use worst gear on HC than on SC by a large margin, but you still gotta push to have more mods on gear.
