I'm guessing this is for the 63 but knowing you, the man with many different plans,it could be for the Tweety bird too,hmm. I'm not up on LS engines much but 6 main bolts!!!😮 Wow! I remember back in the day people would brag about a four bolt main block, lol, considering almost every 350 pick up engine from the 60's & 70's are, it's not really a big deal, but it's funny how it was back then. But dude, six bolt mains, to me that's beefed up 😮🎉 party pulley with your pants down kind of style!👀👍 Woohoo!!! But now seeing your boat power plants,dang!!! That's something! Watching your old boat 632 block tear down and that's some beef too but only half the power of this puppy here! Yeah, I'm psyched for you and eager to see what this goes in. Thanks again man and all the best to you and your family!

Very informative video Mike!! Thanks for sharing 👍. I always loved building engines. Years ago I built a 350 for my brother's sportsmen dirt modified. While everyone else was spending 25-30k for a special built engine (i.e. Tony File engine) , a lot of us who love the sport, but don't have a endless bank account, made due with what we could get. I had a 1973 350 engine from a Canadian Chevy Suburban. 2 barrel, bolt block. The block casting # 3970014. I had the machine shop install splayed 4 bolt main caps and bore it 30 thou over. I had a factory steel 350 crank, and had it turned 10/10 because of wearing showing. I also had a set of pink rods I bought from a friend. I used Keith Black hypereutectic pistons and rings. The heads I had were 327/300hp casting number 3917291. I had the bigger 2.02/1.60 valves installed with bronze guides. The camshaft was from Crane, and was a hydraulic tappet, with the same specs as the 1970 LT1 Vette camshaft. Fluid damper, and a Pete Jackson gear drive. I had a digital scale, and weighed everything for the rotating assembly making sure it was dead on. It ran great. One night my brother was pushed up into the marbles, and panicked. He coasted into the pits upset and apologized to me. I asked him what noise it made when he shut it down. "I don't know, but look!". He hit the button on the tachometer to show the highest rpm. It buried the needle at 9k. My father says, fire it up so I can hear it. After my brother fired up the car, my dad's words were 😂😂😂. "It's fine!! Get the bleep- ity- bleep back out there!!". While this was going on, they were clearing up the track for the accident that he was pushed up the track for. He started in the back of the field, still on the lead lap. My bragging rights: 1) he won the race. 2) he set the track record lap time 3) I built a Chevy 350 that turned 9k rpm! My total out of pocket was only 6k!😎🇺🇲🇺🇲

Very interesting project. Cool info about the block with a nice explanation of how to measure and set set bearing clearances.. The two piece thrust bearing has to be a giant pain in the butt. Surprised they don't use a 5 piece one in a custom billet block . Wondering how you'll keep a head gasket in it though. Hoping the engine goes in the bed of a Mazda pick up truck.

My Lord man… this level of precision and dedication to detail is bordering on insane, measurements to half a thou, those giant, billet main caps at big block spec… That crankshaft is nothing short of billet perfection. Now I see why these bullets can spin north of 10k revs and hang together. And now Mr. Finnegan has us all slobbering to see what this unit is powering… I’m really hoping that he doesn’t keep us in suspense for long.

@zepedrofd11 ай бұрын
20 degrees Celcius is usually what try to maintain in the shops I’ve worked (watches and altimeters in Switzerland). What’s important is keeping the measuring tools and measured parts long enough in the same room. Being careful as well not to hold the measuring tools to long in the hands.
