Exclusive: Demonaz talks Immortal's upcoming album, relationship with Abbath and future plans

Immortal guitarist / vocalist Demonaz recently caught up with Chaoszine to discuss about the band's upcoming "War Against All" album, relationship with former members and what lies ahead for the band. "War Against All" will be released on May 26th via Nuclear Blast Records.

@@davidblair3845 name the top 3 of these 400000000000 clones so I can actually see if you know what your talking about, because the atmosphere and lyrical content of Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism is unmatched, as goes the same with A Blaze in the Northern Sky. "so many clones" no there is not, those albums are both Unique as fuck in 1992, and not much come close.

I hope if that ever happens that Demonaz will stay on vocals and Abbath returns to bass like he was before 1999. Demonaz is better at both vocals and guitars, honestly.

I think the only possibility of a tour is if they get back together. Abbath - Vocals/Bass, Demonaz - Guitar and Horgh - Drums. I would love to hear a live recording of Northern Chaos Gods.

There are lots of possibilities. With his former wrist injury in mind, Demonaz will probably do the vocals live. Arve Isdal would be a logical choice to play the guitar.

Horgh left the band after some disputes with Demonaz, Abbath will definitely not return. Solution would be Demonaz getting some mean toruing guys in the BM scene to shred with him.

I'm optimistically hopeful it could happen, or at least they just reconnect, even if Abbath doesn't rejoin Immortal. Both of them seem like they could be open to it at least. Stranger things have happened, ICS Vortex and Mustis played at Inferno a couple of months ago with Dimmu Borgir after being gone for 16 years!

I was never a big fan of Immortal, until "at the heart of winter", and then when they split up and Demonaz came back with "northern chaos god"... uff what an album! and this last single is also killer

@@alextrusk_ my favorite immortal is by far at the heart of winter but i'm also a massive fan of hypocrisy. i think that sons of northern darkness is a little over produced but i've still listened to it a lot over the years. that said i have a big soft spot for melodeath. what timeless classics are you referring to?

I can't agree about that. For me, I feel, finally Immortal have taken the right step and did it without Peter. I feel that Peter's production kind of ruined every band he's ever produced. I don't like his "sound" at all. Immortal for me sounded more unique on their three first albums.

@@alextrusk_ whenever someone asks me what my favourite Immortal album is they always seem a bit shocked when I say Pure Holocaust. That album had a certain darkness around it, especially the production. It’s such an amazing record.

See, I don't get the obsession with vinyl, because it's really becoming an impediment in terms of a timely album release. Anyway, awesome interview and GREAT questions about the writing/recording process. Most times people just focus on the gossip or the same old boring questions. Awesome job!!!!!

Idk. I feel conflicted about supporting this guy. Wargod sounds like a blatant ripoff of Tyrants and as an artist i dont think I’d feel right about calling the project Immortal without Abbath

I am a very big Immortal fan but this is not Immortal. Demonaz hasn't composed music or perform with the band since At the Heart of the Winter that was released in 1999.

And yet, he composed the majority of the music for the albums before At The Heart of Winter, which were all better than the entirely of their music from the 00s, as well as the entire lyrical concept of the band since day one and composing the last album and this new one entirely by himself which are both, again, their best albums since the 90s. Demonaz is Immortal. Always has been.

@@andrewvanhalen1984 What is more important is the composer and the frontman. Many bands use ex members or non members for their lyrics. One of them is Vader. Can you imagine Vader without Peter?

@@kingpriapatius5832 I think a lot of that too was that Abbath always wanted to keep him involved with the band. He didn't leave because it was his choice to, he couldn't play his guitar to the standard to play Immortal songs anymore, at that time. I am happy he is able to again. He could of just continued on with his Demonaz solo career, but there is more money in Immortal's name obviously.
