I want some suggestions for what fabric for a lightweight jacket to go over a linen dress which won’t cling to each other ( patterned ) ?

Hi Eileen, linen fabrics dont cling to each other, so I dont see any problem in making a linen jacket to wear over a linen dress. If you want a jacket that slips on and off really easily, I would suggest lining the jacket with a traditional (slippy) lining fabric. Then it definitely wouldn't cling to your dress underneath. Hope this helps 🙂

Does it shrink a lot?

We'd always suggest pre-washing and to allow 5% for shrinkage, just to be on the safe side and especially with this being natural fibres. Having said that, we haven't found it shrinks much.

I was wondering that as well. Now I have to find a pattern to make. Does this fabric need to be pattern matched? I have never done this , chosing fabrics where it wasn't necessary.

@@kathiefish6577 I think it would look good in the Minerva "Victoria" blouse pattern which can be cut out in one piece for the front , so no pattern matching would be required. I have just bought this pattern and it looks quite straightforward to make.
