I am a Canadian who is on his way to Wrexham this morning as part of a father-son footballing pilgrimage. Last night we saw Manchester United beat Liverpool at Old Trafford, tonight we are sitting with the Burnley fans as they play in Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup. I must say, I had never heard of Wrexham before these two got involved with the club. Any money we take to that community over the next few days is part of the spin-off from their investment. As celebrities go, they seem like pretty good guys. I look forward to our visit.

Rob chose Wrexham because even though he is now rich and famous, he wasn't born that way. He grew up in South Philadelphia. To let you know what that means is that section of Philadelphia is the poorer, working class section of the city. He chose Wrexham because it is a poorer working class city that is devoted to their football club. Just like the city he grew up in, so the people of Wrexham are familiar to him. We are here rain or shine…is a phrase that I believe to be genuine after having binged the show today. You earned that trust in my eyes. Being a big fan of Mr. Reynolds and needing an alternative for TV entertainment tonight as I struggle hard to boycott the World Cup in Qatar, I jumped on the perfect Saturday night combo of football with Reynolds and partners like a child on a chocolate bar!! Knowing the UK very well as a Bavarian having started my many years there in Lancashire for college and later University and professional career in London, with a tang for all rural parts and dialects for their originality and spirit, I am humbled how these two North American stars show this truly authentic respect from the start. From checking the arm pits for sweat in the first video conference to engaging with very unique volunteers and finally sitting in this interview seeming like overgrown boys who ooze with pride that this project actually made it into all of our hearts! I have seen many docu series where hollywooders and equal have used such a channel to eg prove their down to earthness while still producing big screen time, but they all have cliché flaws like not even knowing which country they are in while trying to educate the world about “this magical place” or such. The disrespect these colleagues of yours are truly broadcasting globally is cruel! Team Wrexham won me over from the start because of your outstanding respect for the city fans and country you’re took your Canadians big money to 💪😂 I refuse all other social media except for business so I hope sincerely my words reach Mr McElhenney and Mr. Reynolds to express the one big key word in international football from my generation- RESPECT!! Ryan is an underrated marketing genius. Between what he's been doing with Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, and also what he did with Deadpool on a limited marketing budget (much less getting it made at all), nobody monetizes celebrity like he can. That may sound like a bad thing, but really it's genius. He can buy into something, make some funny and likeable ads starring himself, put those up on KZbin (and/or other low-cost outlets), and boost the company far more than any standard advertising ever could. Rob was clearly already a footy fan, and now that Ryan can add Rob's celebrity to his and then leverage both, Wrexham is going to be a household name worldwide.

@@nicolecross1430 I don't think he was referring to your passion for the club. We ARE a fickle lot though when it comes to managers, players and owners. If our team is shit for long enough the supporters will turn on the manager, certain players or the ownership. I think the obvious passion these two have for the club will buy them time. However, if God forbid, the club fails to even make the playoffs for the next three years in a row the supporters will start to possibly grumble.

@@brianeleighton I agree with you Brian. I wasn't offended or anything, it just still amazes me how dedicated Wrexham fans are(and I'm originally from Northwich and I won't mention their team 😀) Ryan and Rob have really immersed themselves into the community, not just the club at a time when the town(I'll never view it as a city) really needed a boost. Their enthusiasm is infectious.

Not a Wrexham fan so it's weird for me to hear Hollywood people saying watching Wrexham is a "profound emotional experience." I've never felt that way about my team unless of course they mean frustration, pain, misery, regret, denial and the occasional moment once every few years that it all turns to joy.

Sounds like a "profound emotional experience" to me. They didn't say it was a good one.

I think based on the date of this video they were at the game on 20th of Aug which Wrexham won 5-0, a great result to watch!

I love this! So true so honest. It's awesome to see Wrexham brought out to the world, if anything, I'd love to see is them helping out the entire league too. 😁

I'm a Liverpool fan,so obviously tend to stick to the premiership for the most part... I watched the mini series 'welcome to Wrexham ' and really enjoyed it!. I'm not gonna lie,I mainly watched it because of Ryan Reynolds, but I understand the passion of the supporters and the long History of the club. I hope Wrexham do really well this season, I'm sure Mullin will top 30 goals. Will definitely be keeping an eye on Wrexham, and hoping they finally manage to go up this season!.

You can tell they adore it, why???? Because when they started all this the sponsor was a little teeny company that makes horse and moving trailers. Now they didn’t swoop in and just throw that sponsor away which many would assume they would do, they kept that tiny company on, and use them and the company is listed as still a sponsor. To me that shows the real care and love for that town. I’ve watched the series, and when I saw the list of sponsors and that trailer company is still there shows so much they didn’t just dump them. To me it may seem such a small thing, but it actually shows something huge it shows heart. I’m an die hard Arsenal fan in my blood, but because of the history like arsenal has Wrexham is my welsh team. GO WREXHAM.

Probably how Watford felt like when they had Elton John as chairman - really nice to see Wrexham getting good PR

Ryan is in the details. He's wearing what must clearly be bracelets created by his children and that is so heartwarming.

They’re also doing so much for the town and wider community which is more under the radar. Yes, it’s an investment but they are also invested emotionally and it shows.

As a football fan from the US, LA specifically, a long time Liverpool supporter and fan of football all around, this story of Rob and Ryan has really captured me in regards to their ownership in Wrexham. Experience with US owners hasn’t been very welcome, you can see that with Man United and the Glaziers….and at times even with my club and FSG’s tight fisted approached to player acquisitions. I do think LFC fans do better with FSG than United fans do with Glaziers. These guys seem legit in their approach and watching the docudrama and the KZbin videos about what they plan to do and what their goals are is fun to watch. How would one get to see game feeds from Wrexham? Anyone know?

I have watched Ryan in quite a few movies including Criminal, RIPD and The Hitman's Bodyguard. Never really knew he was into football though.

I am American who grew up in Buffalo NY. We have sports teams that will make you smile one minute and completely gut you in the next if its a good day. ESPN 2 recently played the fa cup match between Wrexham and Blythe and for the first time in my adult life I watched "soccer" on purpose. It came off as a less aggressive version of hockey given the way the game was played. And in typical Buffalo fashion I rooted for a team that had me happy one minute and gutted with a few minutes left of play and then back on the edge of my seat hoping they'd pull off a win. So yeah I enjoyed it. Go Wrexham! Yay!!!! Fuck me! Shit! I'm gonna have a heart attack if I keep rooting for teams and sports like this! Can't wait for the next match to air here in the states!
