I understand his concerns about destroying Syrian military assets, but as it stands all those things have/will fall into Trrst hands .

The duty of the Israeli government is to protect its border, country and people first and foremost despite what the Syrians or others may think.

So does it be the duty of every other government. Right now Israel is aggressor You cannot play the victim card when you are attacking others. Under international law every action from Syria against will be just and lawful so long it doesn't violate rules of war and international humanitarian law

This is too good to be true, the Syria must act concretely to prevent IRGC and resupply to hezbollah thru its territory, and come to the table to negotiate a peace deal and mutual recognition.

@maneshipocrates2264 No. Israel has finally learned to get the enemy before it gets them. Syrian people’s savage persecution of its Jews is proof enough for Israel to know that they can’t be trusted. Read some real history books. As for Israel, it’s now on the offensive. Not gonna make nicey nice with enemies to appease them, ever again.

Mr Al-Masri's intentions in this interview are somewhat noble, but he needs to temper his anger towards Israel's current (well, recently past) actions. Of course Israel wants peace with all its neighbours, but Israel needs its security first. So, strategic mistakes? No. Strategic necessity? Absolutely. If whomever makes up the new Syrian government wants true peace with Israel, then I'm sure Israel's government will reciprocate, provided the correct conditions for peace are met. AM ISRAEL CHAI

I hope he has the voice that finally rings true in Syria. This would be the beginning of a new era, but there are plenty of other voices online pushing for a far more radical state in Syria it's going to be an uphill battle for them and I hope they win...

His words of peace are such a welcome change, coming from a leader in any country with a muslim majority. And I hope his brightest dreams come true. All humans deserve to live in peace regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality (all of which are artificial constructs anyway). However, I'm not sure about his conviction that Syria must remain one country, since doing that might perpetuate this insane chopped up political map created at the end of WW1. For one thing, the Kurds' need and right to have their own country is on of the most obvious facts in that part of the world, and is a result of a shameful treachery, or at least failure on the part of the International community of nations. Just look at a map of that nation super imposed on the current political map of the region, across Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Iraq.

Organising peaceful elections in Syria is gonna be a difficult proposition, especially with the amount of weapons floating around the country. Still Natanyahu should promise a pull back of the IDF once free and fair elections are held.

You mean calling for peace? Yes, that's very unislamic, but I am also pretty sure you are not Syrian and do not know the first thing about our culture.

@AdelSawaf what's the first thing in syrian culture? Sham is heart and soul of Muslim ummah. Our beloved prophet pbuh had prayed for sham even before this blessed land was conquered by Muslims. We Think that syrians are blessed people living in blessed land of sham...full of faith like palestinan Muslims. Is it not true?
@AdelSawaf3 сағат бұрын
@nargishameed4874 well, Syria existed long before Islam, our culture dates back from the Arameans. Syria is a crossroad of cultures that blended here and not only Islam. And we have many different religions (Maronites, Chaldeans, Assyrians, Rums, Yazidis Druzes, Alawites, Sunnis, Shias, Catholics, Orthodox, Mandeans, etc.) and languages spoken here (Arabic, Aramean, Kurdish, Armenian, Turkish, Cherkess, etc.) making us strongly against cultural or religious hegemony. That was actually the starting cause of all the Syrian civil war and we will not go back there.
