Neil Cutler says he was “devastated” to leave Aston Villa last month. The highly-respected figure, labelled “the best English coach by miles” by Villa number one Emi Martinez, has admitted he didn’t want to become a spare part with Unai Emery appointing his own man, Javi Garcia, to head up the club’s goalkeeping department.

Possibly the best interview you guys have done. It gave a real insight to the club, managers and coaching staff. Not only does he come across as a good guy, the way he communicates it easy to understand why he is so highly regarded. I’m not sure if he has ambitions to be a manager but you can see he has the ingredients to be a success.

Really enjoyed that. Seemed like Ash really understood Cutler's momentum point by referring to 5-a-side at Perry Barr 😅.

Cuts is such a kind, genuine guy. I’ll never forget when he heard that I’m terminal ill…he turned up at my front door with Dean Smith for a chat & gave me a signed Emi Martinez match worn shirt & gloves. He still keeps in touch with me now. I’m honoured I can call him a friend.

Great interview guys I realy enjoyed it. So interesting to hear all those behind the scenes stories about the club. Devastated to hear the truth about the "Jed Steer stare", think i prefer to remember it as a tactical masterclass. UTV.

I saw Neil the other day but he was with his family so I left him alone. He’s part of the local community so it was doubly gutting he lost his job. Eternally grateful, but I have chatted with him and his wife when I worked in a pub. Lovely people who gave me good stories from his time as a player with Villa.

I never had any doubt about Derby in the final after beating them well in the league twice, it actually made me angry when pundits would predict a Derby win. There was an arrogance but for a reason , we were invincible for a short while. Great interview, UTV

Just watch this, big Cutts is a top guy, can't believe how humble and down to earth he is. I can see why he was so popular with players, our new goalkeeper coach will have to be a hell of a coach for Cutts not to be a huge loss.
