Come on the reporters reporting stuff like this are mostly diplomamill graduates that get to keep their jobs always these suburb UK accents who they try to alter and fail at it , they always read you a narrative . Freedom ?? really they just trap him in South Korea , the guy said i hope i one day can go to the U.S if he had a passport he would probably go already and not just tell them what he hopes and wishes , they slip up while making these clips you just need to read between the lines.

The fact that a North Korean generals son is fleeing should speak volumes....he’s not some son of a poor farmer. He lived a life of decent modesty and was still willing to face a firing squad because his freedom was worth it.

The biggest middle finger to Kim jong un was when a high level diplomat defected with his whole family. In North Korea diplomats have to a family and aren’t allowed to bring them abroad with them. One of Kim Jong Uns most trusted people was going abroad for diplomatic stuff and KiM Jong Un gave him special permission to bring his family as he gained so much from the North Korea regime, the chance of him defecting was like 0.0001%. After he was allowed to bring his family he simply defected when they reached the other country,

I’ve heard from some interviews of defectors on KZbin that after so many people have escaped, it’s impossible to punish the families anymore because thousands of people have left North Korea. I would be more interested if in the end he realizes that life in extremely capitalistic South korea is as bad as the things he was told by the communist in school. No education = no job. No outstanding quality blah blah = zero to none career development. No family and friends there. Nobody he shared past memory with is there, And worst of all, the people were only seeking for one thing, *money.* I wonder if he can adapt to it even though when he's in old age. It is not short term adaptation, its forever. There's no going back. (He might end up realized that he shouldnt cross the border 50 years later.) One thing for certain, he will miss his friends and family greatly.

Over the years you notice that North Korea’s people are becoming more and more independent in their thinking, becoming more and more dissatisfied with their Government and their Leader. He stated in another part of the interview that the sanctions are working, unfortunately it means that all the citizens are starving even more than before. Small silver lining in that is they recognize their dear leader isn't actually a god or anything, but there's still little they can do about it, as he also sort of said he probably would have done the same as the other soldiers if he wasn't so desperate. They don't have many or any good options.

Darth Zeltroth Rising up against the government in North Korea is easier said than done, especially for the poor and starved. They are brainwashed as well. North Koreans are not becoming independent in their thinking, the majority live in the countryside with almost no contact or link to the other world, so they have no idea how the world actually is. It is heartwarming to know that he survived after that death defying escape. This is a sad reality for our korean brothers and sisters both on the north and south - 1950s many families were displaced because of war. The south was able to recover but the North was held hostage and was trapped in a time 50 years from today. There are a lot of people young and old who tried to escape, stories for which where published online, this speaks volume on how the living standards are inside the country - people wants freedom and be able to live without fear. Time changes everything, I am sure there will be a resolution soon - hang in there.

I would be more interested if in the end he realizes that life in extremely capitalistic South korea is as bad as the things he was told by the communist in school. No education = no job. No outstanding quality blah blah = zero to none career development. No family and friends there. Nobody he shared past memory with is there, he has to support himself with literally everything, and worst of all, the people were only seeking for one thing, *money.* I wonder if he can adapt to it even though when he's in old age. It is not short term adaptation, its forever. There's no going back. (He might end up realized that he shouldnt cross the border 50 years and felt bad for his father later with no way to say "Im sorry, dad") It will be a great psychological battle that will never ends. One thing for certain, he will miss his friends and family greatly.

Dude needs to start a KZbin Channel/Instagram etc. Many of us would be very interested to hear how life was in DPRK! Might even help him mentally, to talk about his previous life!

Man I’m so happy he survived . It’s incredible he even made it over the border with all the health problems he had . I would rather live poor in South Korea , than live as a king in North Korea . Hope he has a happy rest of his life

America would be lucky to have someone so brave come visit. He seems like a good guy. I cant imagine what he has been through. Him mentioning american doctors was really cool.
